I'm using Maxis Fiber 50Mpbs. But the problem the wifi signal is very bad in my room. I live in a Condo and my room is at the end of the house. I currently use Ethernet line to pull from the living to my PC, but my wifi on my ipad and phone is so damn slow. I get barely 1 bar sometimes I can't even detect it.

What would be the best solution be? I'm thinking of getting a new router on my own and place it in my room connecting router 1 to router 2 using Ethernet line, and then to my pc. That way I can have a wifi point in my room as well right? Will the speed be greatly affected?

I have an Extra maxis Router which they did not take back during relocation. It's the same model as the current 1 being used - TG784 v3. Can this router be used for the above method?

Please advice.

Since you already pull a wired from maxis RG, you can either buy a AP/Router

If AP you will lose the ethernet port for your computer in room, if router you gain wifi boost signal and also ethernet port

If I get a new router. How would the settings be like? I connect the Ethernet line from the Huawei Modem or the Maxis Router directly? Will I need to do any configuration other than the USERNAME & PASSWORD of my fiber optic?

I have an extra maxis router as well.. Can it be used the same way?

1) Buy another wireless router and connect it to the LAN wire that you are having right now.
2) Locate the wireless router somewhere to a location that is probably the best to serve whole condo and connect it through LAN cable.
3) Locate the wireless router somewhere to a location that is probably the best to serve whole condo and connect it through PowerLine adapter.
4) Buy another wireless router and connect it through PowerLine adapter.

The 1 and 2 give better throughput performance, most likely.
The 3 and 4 is neat because no wire cluttering the condo.

The best of both solution is to buy mesh router. You can locate satellite unit for best whole condo coverage.

Yes. Why not? If not sure how to configure, copy the router in the hall configuration and use different channel.

Hello, just tried it. Internet wont connect. I can login to both the Maxis Gateway. But it wont connect to the internet. I checked youtube, the 2nd router has to disable DHCP. How do I do that on a Maxis router?

I don't use Maxis but I think the BTU is the one established the connection to Maxis service. The router in the hall has gateway which is the BTU address. The router in the hall has its DHCP enables to provide IP address to devices that requested addresses.

The 2nd router also need to have the DHCP enable so that it can provide address to its clients. The gate way for the 2nd router should also be the same gateway as 1st router.

Both router is not dialing for service as this is done by the BTU. The BTU convert the optical signal to electrical LAN signal. How many port on the BTU? If you plug in the 2nd router on the 1st router port, then the 2nd router will have the IP address from 1st router. This way the gateway for 2nd router would be the IP address of the 1st router.

I called maxis regarding the problem, they would only provide me with the username and password for my account. Other than that, they are unable to support..

You already have the 1st router working. To manage this router, you need to type an IP address, right? This IP address is the IP address of this router.

Where do you connect the LAN cable? Is it at the back of the 1st router? If this is true, then the 2nd router get the IP address from the 1st router.

Therefore, the gateway for the 2nd router to access external connection is the 1st router IP address.
The gateway for 1st router to connect to external world is the IP address of the BTU.

You get what I meant?

Bro do you have the admin username and password for the TG784nV3? If you don't, it will be very hard to do any further stuff with that extra router, as you need the administrative login and password for that router, and not the user username and password if that make sense.

In that case, it should be relatively straightforward to do. I'm not an IT guy lol, so I couldn't help you even if I wanted to. I know some basic knowledge, but that's about it. It would be better to find someone who knows what they are doing. Try kaodim.com and search 'Networking Installation and Configuration'.

Try to get an extender or powerline. They are both easy configure and not too complicated.

Looks like you don't know much about networking.

I believe your LAN cable you are using is connected to a LAN port on the 1st router, right?

Do you know the IP address of your 1sr router? This IP address is the number you type on your browser to access your 1st router.

The best way is to get a friend or neighbor that know how

Both the router are the same type. Yes, I have the IP to access the Gateway.
I really don't know much about Networking. I thought it was just a plug and play type of method since its the same router. But sadly it isn't.

Bro as I say, if you want plug and play, try extender or powerline, which may come with wireless capabilities.

Yeahhh.. Was trying to save on budget. But for Extender, would it greatly affect the speed? Or I might just as well get a new router that can provide a greater coverage?

It would halve the thoroughtput, so higher ping times. Powerline would be better. If you're not using the IPTV or VoIP from Maxis, just change the router to something better, like Asus or the higher end TP-Link routers.
