Hi all sifu here,
I wish to create an application( PC base, Wins 10).
The function of the application is to store data and do calculation with those data.
It is better to have interface button to allow me to key in and extract data.
May I know how to make this application? I have no idea
Is it i should use MYSQL and PHP?

1st u need database itself. mssql/mysql pick 1.

2nd u need develop dekstop application.

vb or c#, pick 1 which u more comfortable.

or, u can hired freelance to do that and study their source code.

depending on what u r doing, mysql doesnt work well on windows , i tried that before long time ago. mysql is optimized for linux based system. if u wish to run off windows on a lower budget (ex: free), try access or something.

note that access has a maximum optimum 200,000 user base. that means if you plan to create a database of more than 200,000 users then you should look for mssql (2 mil) or oracle (more than 2 mil).

percentage of people that will be creating a database with such big proportion is very low for new people, normally only experienced people will be creating less than 200k user accounts hence my suggestion.

hi, i dont have much budget for hire one.
thanks for your suggestion. notworthy.gif
I heard friend mentioned C# and Visual Studio, but Visual Studio seems a bit complicated for me.
Thought might have any other option for considering.
If these are the best options then no choice i need to learn. sweat.gif

"open source/free" query analyser, u can get those for free, or a free version of the developer's kit for msdb. they hook up directly to any database via oledb or odbc, named pipes and other methods. some is cross platform, in which they can hook up to ANY database from oracle, mssql, mysql, access, etc.

it is pretty easy to make one as well (takes 5 minutes to make one). i made a few (with different interfaces) sometime back. you can find some plugins as well for many languages such as php, cf, cfm, java, etc that emulates or acts as one.

do note that you WILL need to know how to use the "command prompt" or hardcode sql language. like "create table" that sorta stuff.

how about user interface? for example i need an application to input data and do calculation with all the data i had.
i dont mind to learn how to design the user interface because i can design according to the function i want.

yes you need a query tool. thats the tool for mysql, unsure if it is compatible with others, but so long as u can use oledb or odbc (standard for windows) it should work.
