Hi. Just curious, is there any difference in brakes, disc sized or pads between the 1.8s and 1.5 TC?
maybe the suspension is made stiffer? or the CVT is a higher grade in the 1.5TC?

Just took home the 1.8s today! @ PJ. Managed to get 1 from a last minute cancellation by another buyer.
Previously driving a 14 yr old Sentra.

Before I forget how it initially felt, just my personal comparative experience in the new car :
Sentra N16 (2004) manual to Civic FC 1.8:
Better: > More pliant and plush suspension. Noticeably a more comfortable ride across uneven roads. Very surprising , since the car seems lower and the rims are 1 inch larger. > ABS, EBD, VSA, touchscreen, USB ports, fuel, travel gauges .. Plenty of electronics to assist! > auto lock, keyless. > Quieter interior.
Mainly worse due to all the plastics!: > The rear seat cushion doesn't cover up to the door. Instead there is a hard plastic section between the door and rear seat. > Plastic oil dipstick?! > Plastic door unlock knob looks cheap and flimsy. Old sentra was Chrome and firmly fitted. > black unpainted plastic for the window switches and the arm rests.
> The center console is quite tall, very tight spacing to insert the seatbelt buckle. >Seat fabric feels cheap.
Major difference! The steering is TOO LIGHT! Could anyone advice if there is any in car settings or how can the steering be made to feel more weighted?
During >50kmh corners the Civic seems to help you turn in more, and it's abit scary coming from the sentra with a more direct/ raw steering . I feel abit disconnected, disjointed to the Civic, it seems to have a layer in between me and the actual car. Perhaps it tries to shield me from some of the more personal tremors that the car is feeling.
But overall, yes Civic is an upgrade.
Thanks.

QUOTE(KnightSports @ Aug 23 2018, 07:02 AM) That trim piece can take out and kasi wrap in leather
I suggested it before If oil dipstick annoys you (high grade plastics should not melt in anything around boiling temp anyway), there is a whole lot more of other stuff which uses plastic on even more hot areas that is gonna annoy you
Valve covers Intercooler end tanks and even the blardy charge pipes are plastics Many other bits behind which you don't notice ya man... Jia lat... More sakit hati. But have to trust Honda engineering , hopefully these plastics are made to withstand greater than norm. As well as save weight n cost. QUOTE(zeroimpact @ Aug 23 2018, 07:23 AM) I’ve been driving for 2 months now, but I still don’t feel one with the civic, the trust is still not there. Compare to my 9 year old persona, I seem to trust it with every turn even at high speed compare to the civic. I’m hoping this is just adapting issue, will have to see as I drive more. ya . we're coming from a very mechanical , direct feedback cars... Feel the minute connection with it. Lol.

QUOTE(KnightSports @ Sep 1 2018, 05:13 PM) How is it so that it is better to buy after SST? The best that anyone could get during the tax holidays were like total RM10k before 1st June prices i believe. Even if not, most would still get RM7k from GST reduced plus RM1.5k worth of discounts totally RM8.5k. But the important point is that the car costs less than 1st June even with SST returning. I think that is a plus no matter what as it was expected to be above. feel kinda now, all the mad rush and chasing, contacting 20+ dealers to get a unit. So SST offer even better deal than Tax Free?? Wah lau...

QUOTE(0501024 @ Sep 17 2018, 02:18 AM) question: whats the original tyre pressure that the manufacturer infates the tyres at? reason being, i notice slight reduction in air pressure so i went to check. as per door tag it states 220/220 . so i went to the pump, set at 220(32psi), and all four tyres were already above 220. just curious as to why the factory would inflate it to beyond the recommended pressure yea... mine was also higher than the 220, day 1 out of the showroom as well.

QUOTE(robinhood @ Nov 21 2018, 11:04 AM) Mine affected too. Same place at the right A Pillar.Spoken to the workshop at Imavest Sg Long. They gave me stupid excuse that they don’t fix issues on Sunday. The problem can be fixed easily as I solved the problem by inserting a piece of paper to close the gap. But stupid workshop said they don’t perform repair jobs on Sunday when the problem has been well identified. I think more than 80% Civics kena this famous A Pillar rattling issue. It is an inherent design issue in which Honda till today hesitate to rectify. Sigh.... ya.. the Petaling Jaya branch also said, Saturday and Sunday is for normal service only. No Repair/fix on weekends. Maybe need to find a secluded workshop, lesser volume of cars..

yesterday night with the civic 1.8 in Park/Neutral, I stepped on the accelerator to rev the engine to 4k rpm and felt vibrations to both the engine and car body.
I didn't dare to fully press down the pedal after feeling the vibration at 4k.
Wonder if anyone tried this b4 and what was your car's behaviour?

Just did 2nd service today for civic1.8s, 10k/6 month, but I only had 6k mileage. They set the 3rd service 1 year from the date of car collection, and not 6 months from the last service. Susah lo.. i think when I reach 1 year (3rd service) will be servicing for 20k km but actual mileage just 12k km.. Feel that this is a waste of the engine oil and other parts.. replacing before they are due. Gap will keep getting bigger n bigger.. and the SA told me many others also face the same dilemma.. but what to do... Honda's rules. I asked if they could be more flexible, but no way. What I could cross out from the bill is Tyre alignment/balancing and swap, to which the SA say these are wear n tear items, not warrantied anyway. All fabric material inclusive the door panel and arm rest area will change to leather. Hmm.. For those that are still with Fabric seats, dare I recommend this RM18 PermaGlass fabric cleaner and a normal medium brush ?
I have used that on mine and the fabric is back to Black. This post has been edited by nlik: Aug 25 2019, 01:08 PM

QUOTE(ToniV @ Sep 3 2019, 04:11 AM) i got the 1.8 variant because was not too sure about the 1.5 turbo engine. but after a few years no complain regarding the turbo model. so i suggest u to take the turbo cause more power and fuel efficient. maintenance wise need to pay extra for the turbo oil. other than that mostly same. currently many facing steering rack issue and loud grinding sound. 1.5T service intervals are more frequent too which will incur more costs.

Anyone ever thought of raising the Civic's ride height?
I have like several thoughts of the benefits: 1. i pass through 10 speed bumps every day, and it seems contractors are adding as many as they can on our roads.
2. It would be easier to get in and out.
3. lol.. if it floods in Malaysia, and it does, that ONE Inch may slightly help.
4. Overall I think the ride will be plusher.
5. Road coming out of my office is quite steep and while rate, it has rubs the bottom.
6. The Civic handling is already excellent, even the almost flat bottom, rear torsion bar is a giveaway where the Engineer's priorities were. Surely there will be a sacrifice in the handling yes, will be noticeable. However the car would still be better handling than many other cars on the road.
7. Not to mention, more plushness would probably mean less crashing n impacts to the chassis/components.. could the car age easier and last longer??
Hmm... ??

Hi, Would you know if they also have the the SI spoiler? and does RM290 include the body color spraying? thanks. QUOTE(broadmother @ Jan 5 2020, 02:17 PM) Here you go. Since after new year, I have been searching for the spoiler at Lazada. Saw this supplier called venom accessory that sells body kit and spoiler at a very reasonable price. I pm’ed them to ask the, if they provides installation service also. They do, at their factory in Kajang. So I went there to install the spoiler only for rm 290 includes installation. But they say they are still doing promotion for body kit, all in for rm 1000, they said I could never get this price elsewhere which I totally agreed. The material is different from original Honda but the touch and naked eyes can’t see it. Plus I prefer this material more because it is pu rubber, means it won’t break when it hits something unlike the original from Honda.
