Based on another Mark Millar creation. The movie looks much more interesting than the comic book counterpart. Can't blame Matthew Vaughn decide to do this over X-men DOFP. Sick music track from The Doors - Five to One.

tonYe, will there be any censorship in this movie?
read a lot of reviews n they said this is 1 of the best action movie in years n very gore-ish
I haven't seen it yet, it's only being released here after Valentine's, I believe. The advanced screening for the local media should be right before that.
It's a throwback to Roger Moore era of James Bond template. An eccentric megalomaniac villain with his distinctive quirky henchman plotting to end the world. Instead of Jaws,Oddjob,Nick Nack,etc...you get a lisping SLJ and Sofia Boutella with her deadly prosthetic legs. Overall, it's a pastiche of all the older spy movies you like as a kid and blends together for this entertaining action flick. Above all it does not take itself too serious as Bond 24 will be that kind of movie later this year. It's not reinventing the wheel just the right use of ingredients to make the whole thing works. Colin Firth is the main reason to watch this movie. You simply just see him in a different light and the newcomer Taron Edgerton does hold his candle among all the big name actors. Be ready to drop your jaw during the church scene.
Matthew Vaughn is fast becoming the type of film director who can open a movie based on his name alone. It's worth noting the whole Kingsman idea was conceived during Kick-ass filming where he outlined the story and hand it over to Mark Millar to conceive the comic book. When he finished x-men the first class, he started to adapt the comic book with his longtime writing partner Jane Goldman and self-financed the production of Kingsman. He gave up DOFP directing gig so he can concentrate on Kingsman. When DOFP hit the box-office which was based on 80% of Vaughn's script, Fox swoop in to pick up the tab for Kingsman so to lock him in the fox camp.

I was expecting Harry to suddenly appear at the end to save them because he's like one of the main characters and they can't let him die just like that. Well I'm glad that didn't happen because... this ain't that kind of movie! It would be too cliche if an important character suddenly is alive again with some lame explanation of how he survived.
None of the F bombs and gore seems to be cut. Now that's what I'm talking about.

Kingsman: The Secret Service review! First movie of the year and let me tell you, it's a good movie to start off the year. The movie is absolutely awesome. Here's an upfront warning: this movie is not kid friendly at all. Hence it is rated 18 in the cinemas. Plenty of swearing and violence. This movie was directed by Matthew Vaughn and if you have watched his previous movie, Kick-Ass, you will know what to expect for an adult film. Nonetheless, still a fun film to watch.
This movie is about a group of independent British secret service spies who works in the shadows while wearing suits to maintain a gentlemen image. Somewhat like James Bond but only, they get more 'hands on'. This movie follows Eggsy, a young men in his early 20s, who was recruited by Harry Hart, a Kingsman agent. Eggsy's father was a Kingsman agent himself but he sacrifice himself to save Harry and the other agents. Harry feels he is obliged to take care of Eggsy whenever he needs him until one day he received a call for help from Eggsy. He then takes Eggsy under his wing to train him to be a new generation of Kingsman agent.
As you may have know, this movie is filled with English actors, hence you will expect them to swear alot in this movie. The movie is action packed and the fighting sequences are well choreograph. There is not much car chase scene except for one but majority of the action are hand to hand combat fights. The jokes are no less either. The violence are abit over the top and they tend to make it funny. Yes, limbs will fly left and right. One of the villain in the movie that was unique was Gazelle, the assistant to Samuel L. Jackson's character. She uses bladed prosthetic legs as her weapons and it was interesting to see her slash down the enemies. Samuel L. Jackson's character here is abit...out of his usual character. He seems so off and awkward playing this villain role.
Overall, the movie is a fun ride. Seeing the actors fighting in suits while still maintaining composure is pretty damn epic. Makes me want to make my own suit. Colin Firth is still in pretty good shape to do an action movie eventhough he is in his 50s. Totally a must watch movie. All I can say is; James Bond, you can eat your heart out! I give this movie a 9 out of 10. I shall end this review with one of the sayings in this movie: 'Manners maketh man'.
i hope no sequel after this or else bcum KA-2 epic failure
kick ass 2 deviated from original comic book source.
and now kick ass 3 the movie is either cancelled or will be totally different from kick ass comic vol. 3 bcos in comic kick ass vol. 2, hit girl goes to prison...
Today just watch this movie. Definitely my favourite movie for CNY and please go to see it. Totally 2 hours of adrenaline rush of feel good movie and never get bored. I just spent 8 dollars for the morning session and the movie are worth more than that . Keep an eye for the rising star Taron Egerton , Matthew Vaughn (the director ) described him as the male version of Jennifer Lawrence. He absolutely nails this character with plenty of humour and charisma.
After watching the movie I went back to the cashier and paid again lol...this movie is so fvcking awesome!!! Cant understand why people talk about 50 shades more than this.

Dirty minds and it really is 50 shades of long ass soft prawns
Was there anything after the credits? Not going to watch the sequel if Colin firth not in it. He was the star of the show damn kick ass. The young guy was mostly a sidekick.

Actually, Matthew Vaughn had been interviewed recently and he had stated that if he does come back for Kingsman 2, he wants Colin Firth back and he's got a couple of ideas on how to do it...
I'm going to watch it this Thursday so how long do I have to wait for the credit scenes to show up? Some cinema ushers just can't wait patiently for us to see the credit scene and expect us to go out after the movie ended because they need to clean up the cinema hall

Great! Good to know! Last time, when I watched a Marvel movie, I felt kinda silly sitting alone there waiting to watch the credit scenes while my friends all went out of the cinema hall already and the ushers & cleaners glaring at me to leave..

Haha looks like extra scene in the middle of credits is a trend now unlike the old times

Yeah, last time in horror movie, they will show the monsters rise again at the ending to tease us about a sequel possibility but now the extra scene is right smack in the middle of the credit. If you dunno in advance, you will really miss it so have to ask beforehand

I see. I not big fan of horror yet alone classic horror. So that one i dont know.
Yah, just saw Kingsman last night. It's very entertaining and a bit comically violent! Funny thing was, the audience I was with actually clapped and cheered as the movie credits came up....lol. Everyone seemed to REALLY like this movie.
What scene was shown during the credits? Shucks, I missed it.

It's the bar fight scene but with Eggsy confronting his step father like how Harry trashed the bar
I never read/watch any spoiler and not watching any trailer regarding this movies after many people said that this is the best movie of the month. I also don't know what kind of movie is this. My first thought for this movie, it maybe the serious secret agent movie, that may be on par with Bond series, Bourne series, or even The Lives of Others.
As the British movies lover, I must watch this movie.. So, I went to the cinema, watch the movie.. guess what? I didn't much impressed at all.
The storyline is so predictable, I already could guess what happens. And the ending is pretty typical..
But, maybe it is because my first expectation is, this movie is about the serious spy/secret agent movies and not the comedy-action spy movies..
So, honestly, for the comedy-action spy movies, I would rate 8.5/10 , a bit lower than Johnny English (lel)
I watched this movie yesterday without watching the trailer. I have no expectation, and... Man, this movie is fucking awesome, and very funny!!
The fighting scene rendered like a game which made me feel like I'm playing a easy control boss that can wipe out entire human race!! XD Story is OK, the only downside is the 3D effect...
Anyway...

I wonder why Arthur choose Eggsy to live in new world but doesn't choose Harry?
Yep, Kingsman is getting a sequel coming in Summer 2017
QUOTE
20th Century Fox has set a Summer 2017 release date for Kingsman 2
Earlier this year, Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of the Mark Millar/Dave Gibbons graphic novel Kingsman: The Secret Service became a surprise hit for 20th Century Fox, grossing $128 million domestically and another $285 million overseas. It also kicked off what would be a year filled with spy thrillers and comedies.
It wasn’t long before a sequel was confirmed with Vaughn thinking of directing it himself, and now we’ve learned that 20th Century Fox isn’t going to wait that long to release a sequel, setting a June 16, 2017 release date for the spy action-comedy that will presumably bring back Taron Egerton’s now fully-trained secret agent.
While there’s no word who else might return from the first movie–if you’ve seen it then you know why it will be hard to bring many characters back, kind of like with another Millar-adapted movie Wanted–it would be the second movie based on one of Millar’s works to get a sequel after Kick-Ass 2, which Vaughn did not return to direct. So far, there hasn’t been any word whether Milllar and Gibbons might continue their story into another “The Secret Service” graphic novel (as Millar did with Kick-Ass) although Vaughn’s movie already diverged away from the comic, so it could theoretically continue on its own trajectory.
So far, the only other movie that has scheduled itself on that June 16, 2017 date is Disney•Pixar’s Cars 3, which shouldn’t have too much cross-over audience with the R-rated action-comedy.
Stay tuned to SuperHeroHype for all the latest updates on Kingsman 2!
Kickass 2 was not written by Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman. X-men: Days of Future Past also written by them before they jump ship to Kingsman. Bryan Singer crash and burn X-men The Apocalypse just like Superman Returns. So it's not hard to tell where the secret sauce came from.
As far as pop corn movie goes, they have yet to disappoint. I believe Matthew Vaughn had a strong intuition for nerdy properties and would rather put his own money on the table to make the movies he wanted. It's evident his CG sequences and production quality a little behind the AAA players but his film direction and story telling sense made up for it.
IIRC he gave Marvel Studio the middle finger once he realized he couldn't retain his creative vision. Unfortunately, Jon Favreau, Joss Whedon, Edgar Wright were not so lucky...
Cool trailer. Really like that it accompanied by that my way song. Hopefully weight of expectation didn't ruin it like it did on GoTG2 which quite divisive at the moment.
OK, I'm somewhat torn. I loved the first movie and I love how they have this Statesman counterpart thing going on. I'm excited over the sequel.
But they brought back Colin Firth's character and upped the ante by destroying the whole Kingsman stuff and presumably killing off the other Kingsman. Kinda unsure how far down the "bigger is better" road they've gone. What's the point of all this upping the ante if there are no consequences? Nobody dies.
One word...excessive. While it retain the style and things you come to like about the first one, it just unrestrained with kinetic pacing and mishandling of the story. Out goes the campy spy homage and everything just on the eleven with in your face jokes. If you switch off your brain you may come to appreciate it as a mindless sequel, if you are looking for things that expand on the first movie....this is not that flick. There you have it...the first misfire from Vaughn otherwise impressive streak of highly watchable movies.
Why does Juliana Moore's character (Poppy) needs be so.... Saccharin????!?
nicely put. She was kinda delicious at the beginning. Audience anticipated & gushed wow the manner she..

Well, in a way it was WAY too obvious (in your face really)

In the first movie they over tried to show that it's the opposite of James Bond movies. In this movie, with that established, they could have more fun.
Damn Merlin scene. Also that damn song, Take Me Home, Country Roads. Salute.
Poor JB and Roxy. I thought we would have more Roxy in this film
The bar scene, this time with Whiskey and his lasso and whip, very awesome.
Elton John is the attention of this film
So I guess Galahad (Harry) becomes the leader, with Eggsy is implied to have to leave the Kingsmen? No worry, Tequila joined them

the graphic/cartoonish 'fingering' by Eggsy into her (Clara) virgina canal
QUOTE
The scene is certainly shocking, but it's integral to the plot. (Although, it should be said, the plot is flat-out bonkers.) It involved Eggsy (Taron Egerton) placing a tracking device inside of a character Clara, played by Poppy Delevigne.
By "inside," we're talking vaginal canal — the result is an almost cartoonish fingering that takes us, the viewer, inside of Clara's vagina. Don't worry; the movie leans on CGI to recreate that very intimate body part.
😬
Treaters here shown the 'inside' with tracker inserted but not moments before

character?! goddamn it and also

Merlin's sacrifice was good all and all, but the way they did it felt cheap, sure he took out the guards at the main door, but after that we saw Eggsy and Harry kicked all the other goons' arse, can't they took down those as well?
Darn... was hoping it would not fall into the 'more of everything in sequel' trap but it did. But going by the reviews, it surely sounds like a helluva lot of fun, but I'll pass.

Its still a rather well made sequel, just that when you compared it with the first one then it becomes just not that good

I agree with this so much. They dont even pay homage to the valentine incident and how the world react to it. My friend i watched the movie with said i was too picky with the details. Time to get better friends.

I mean, where was the Statesman during the first movie? Valentine was American, they had shown us in this movie that they can spy on the President inside the White House, and Valentine was shown talking to the President in the White House during the first movie

Entertaining movie neverthanless despite not better than the predecessor. I'm not liking Tatum actor no matter what movie he appear. Kingsman 3 probably will resurrect the 'dead' char just like Harry. A good Mathew Vaughan did a moderate sequel fallen into category like Bryan Singer. Unbeatable JCameron Sequel King title.... but watch out for another Canadian fellow Denis Villeneuve. 6.5/10
It looks like Matthew Vaughn is entering the no longer hot film director phase. Two thirds of the movie spent on convoluted set-up. His depiction of the senseless WW1 is very juvenile and barely scratching the surface of what really happened. Only the third act is where all the Kngsman action really taking place. Can't wait for the movie to end, boring and silly like Kingsman 2.
