Based on the reason, it is true that, the capability of a seller to buy in bulk will result of cheaper items.

A friend of mine once work with a phone shop selling phone casings, based on the records, they bought everything from China(of course la). Each phone casing only cost around RM 2-3. and selling for RM 20-50. But they have to buy in 2-3 kontena la.

So the reason given is VALID, since not many small shops in MD would have the money to buy that much.

BUT

upon some Google detectives work, I found out that the sole distributor is

WGN S/B

and the chairman is,

correct me if I'm wrong, this makes that, this person is an UMNO member.

So.... his company buy cheap, and sell back to seller, possibly, higher than usual. (possibly la, I don't know, this is all speculation, pls don't sue me, I don't have the money to pay a lawyer. biggrin.gif )

They are just incompetence and nepotism. Initially they might be able to source at cheaper cost as all the retailer need to get the stock from them, so they were able to make a very large order. That is why they were able to report higher revenue to the tune of hundred million in for Digital Mall first year of operation. the truth is, the number is incorrect as it only reflect the sale of supplier (i.e WGN itself) but most of the stock are still sitting idle with the retailer.

Now the retailer might need to restock some of the item but as the sales is slow, the quantity required will be a lot smaller. So how they are going to get supply at cheaper cost??? laugh.gif

It is a sheer incompetence and wrong business strategy which is typical with bumiputera business. they will enjoy the windfall first instead of investing back to the business.
