When my wife was pregnant the hospital recommended to have the bag ready by the time she entered the 7month!
with nighties, underwear, pregnancy pads, and baby diapers and first sets of clothes.

when my wife delivered we didnt prepare anything. just went to the hospital with our document book. she has a hospital garment. they have some maternity pad. they wrap the baby and also give several sample diapers... durin the night i went home and grabbed other stuff that we needed. i suppose if your home is very far away, then its a big thing to get the bag..

dont forget to pack a bag for yourself.
mama's bag.
baby's bag (usually the nurse will take care of the baby in nursery, they need clothes etc, so make sure u pack in a separate bag, not together with mama's bag)

daddy's bag.
phone charger, a set of clothes, coins for vending machine, book etc.
google it.
