MSC MALAYSIA IP CREATORS CHALLENGE SERIES 2007
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES
MSC Malaysia, through its strategic initiatives, is striving to turn the creative multimedia industry into one of the main engines of growth for Malaysia by engaging creative multimedia companies and institutions of higher learning to spearhead the use of digital technologies to produce high quality creative content. Through its Creative Multimedia Department, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) has initiated a series of creative content competition in 2006. The competition now has become an annual event that covers 4 types of creative multimedia content, namely:
. Animation
. Computer Games
. Digital Comic
. Mobile Interactive Content
The main objective of this competition is to unearth and enhance the capability of local talents in terms of the development of new intellectual property (IP) and help spur the growth of the creative multimedia industry under the MSC Malaysia Creative Multimedia Content Initiative (M-CMCI).
WHAT TO EXPECT
This unique competition is open to amateurs and professionals from the creative multimedia industry. It is a competition which is richly supplemented with a 'step-by-step' and 'how-to' workshops for the benefit of the participants. All four (4) competitions will run concurrently. Judges are selected from among the best in the industry. Creative ideas and ability to pitch confidently will come handy when finalists meet face-to-face with them during the pitching day.
At the end of the competition, winners will receive a sum of money, a development lair at Cyberjaya, unlimited access to Creative Applications and Development Centre facilities and consultancy from experts in the field. Potential home-grown creative contents will stand a chance to gain international recognition. MDeC reserves the right to showcase the product for promotion purposes while the intellectual property remains with the creator.
ANIMATION - PRO Category: RM50K x 3 | AMTR: RM40K x 3
For the animation competition, companies or teams will first have to submit their ideas in a proposal format which includes pre-production of their animated characters, the story, eventual background informationof the show/trailer intended and project milestones. Selected finalists will have to pitch their ideas to the judges whom will decide on who deserves the grant for the production of their animation trailer or pilot episode.

COMPUTER GAMES - RM50K x 3
Aimed at attracting game developers and publishers in coming out with creative,innovative and fully-playable PC games, this competition will become a platform for the creation of quality game content for the global market. In this competition, companies or teams will have to propose their idea, game play, business module, schedule & budget, technical approach, game content development and commercialization aspect of their game. Finalists will be called to pitch their ideas in front of the judges.

DIGITAL COMIC - PRO Category: RM15K x 10 | AMTR: RM10K x 5
Designed to tap into the under-developed digital comic industry, this competition calls all interested participants to submit their ideas which includes pre-production of the characters, storyline of the digital comic and development timeline. A pitching session will be held to select winners. The grant money is expected to be used to support the comic illustration and content digitisation.

INTERACTIVE MOBILE CONTENT - PRO Category: RM50K x 3 | AMTR: RM40K x 3
Interactive mobile content pursuers are welcome to send in their ideas. Break the normal application of the mobile world today by creating an exciting next generation mobile interactive content. A pitching session will act as the last platform for finalists to secure the grant.
