Hi guys I have a small car (classic mini) that needs soundproofing. Im on a tight budget (dont want to spend more than 300) and Im perfectly happy to DIY it. I can get closed cell rubber foam layers from lazada, but I also need to deal with the vibration.

I know I can get bitumen tape (roof sealing / flashing tape) from hardware stores which are cheap, but from what i've read, in the heat the bitumen will release fumes which are bad for health, hence I'd like to go with a butyl based material like STP instead.

Question: Where can I get STP or similar on the cheap? Other than STP what are other brands I can consider and where to get? Please dont say Dynamat, its just too expensive.

How much was it? I assume you did sound proofing for your entire car.

The arch at the back & front, the firewall, the rear side panels and behind the rear seats and the roof at a minimum.

You don't have to cover the whole panel, you can use small strips every 3 inches, but you'll still hear the classic gear whine.... devil.gif What vibrates a lot is the bonnet.

RM75 from Howie is cheap. I think Lazada is more than that for the Silent Coat

Slowly lah. Got to watch the budget. i wanted to reduce the road noise. The mini is by definition a noisy car. Just looking to make it a bit ore comfortable for my ears.

For the floor, I did it completely, with no gaps. It would also keep it even. But for the other areas, ya a few strips should be sufficient.

Question: normally do you put the silentcoat on the inside or the tyre side of the wheel arch?

For my clubbie, I used 1 sheet for the roof, staggered. The floors just following the wider areas. Sides and doors staggered, Full lining on firewall inside and out. Arches on the inside. Covered with different types of insulation, either closed cell or fibre.
