May I know what's the problem with top up a bit coolant with tap water? I thought this is like a common practice in workshop, and never heard of any problem with that..

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Feb 2 2018, 10:59 PM) Yes it does, but within the multitudes of lights and displays at the meter panel, who would notice a red LED coming on? By that time, it will be too late. The red light should be very noticeable at the meter panel since there shouldn't be any red light light up during driving.. some more it will blink when temp rises.. for me I prefer this minimalistic approach than those old fashioned temp gauge..Thats the only thing I truly hated about the GM6 City. No engine temperature gauge, instead they have a rather useless ambient temperature display. But anyways, thanks for sharing on the blue light ON time. That will be pretty much the same for my CFL to heat up to optimum temps. |

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Feb 3 2018, 11:34 AM) Call me a traditionalist but i am more assured of seeing the rise and fall of temperature conditions instead of looking out for that red light. Or even a digital temperature display to show how hot it is currently. Oh well, to each their own i guess. Well I agree it's just personal preference.. may be those who drive a car with temp gauge before may not get used to it.. |

Hi, I have read from the net that never use econ mode because it's fuel saving benefit is not significant and it's just a gimmick of car manufacturer use to attract buyers who concern about fc.. furthermore driving in econ mode all the time can increase carbon build up in engine, thus it's drawback outweigh benefit in long term.. is this true?

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Feb 9 2018, 02:35 PM) Did those net 'advice' come with tested results or empirical evidence? Did they provide those scenarios where you can try ownself and confirm their findings? Did they show proof or provide verifiable theorem on the increase of carbon build up? Did they even explain how ECON mode functions and why its bad? A sporty drive will cause less carbon buildup in engine as compared to eco drive.. this statement seem kinda true to me.. that's why I seek clarification from here.. |

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Feb 9 2018, 05:26 PM) "A sporty drive will cause less carbon buildup in engine". Till now still treat the car gently with most of the time on eco mode.. if there's benefit from sporty drive as well I will start to vroom from now onwards Well, yes and no. In the ol' days when engines were less refined and fuels were more dirty, carbon does buildup quicker inside engine. A burst of hi speed runs can remove much of the carbon buildup althou a top overhaul is still recommended to truly remove all the hardened substance. But with modern cars and better quality fuel nowadays, a sporty drive no longer brings much benefits to clean the engine. Carbon will take a very very long time to buildup (and i'm talking years here). You can do better to pump in RON97/Red Vpower/RON100 once per month and get better results from the cleaning agents in these fuels. All them are Euro4 level, so the cleaning power is much better. Of cuz, a sporty drive once in a while never hurts anyone This post has been edited by Gamerjim: Feb 9 2018, 05:54 PM |
