try improve on composition, frame the main subject tighter so it will give impact... and try shooting when the sun shining it's golden light..

IMHO, the dog pic need more DOF... sharpness is required... work on the composition more, take your time to study it and try different composition on a single subject.

ah, u're using a d70s also. sadly, my shots, compared to urs, are like comparing a meastro and a noob (myself)

composition is one thing i'm aware i lack. but before i move to compo, i wanna learn how to take good sharp pictures. need more DOF, meaning the dog should be more visible, and less of bokeh?
