Hello sifus. I am considering to change the HU on my car but doing so will result in losing some of the stock functionalities such as adjust the lights timeout, rain sensing, adaptive lights, etc. I am not sure if that would be a good move doing to trade for better SQ. On top of that, i read in the other forums saying that those functionalities are merely just displays so technically I would not losing the functions but I will not be able to edit the setting per se. I am not sure if that is true?

i facing same issue like yours last time ..
these are my research / advice from sifu ..
1. Some sifu able to relocate your current HU to other location, so the display can still remain (the button to control the screen, not sure what car u having). So they pull another power source and link your speaker to the new HU.
2. There are some China OEM HU which able to remain your car existing funtion (the button function i mean), of course the sound quality is still acceptable la .. Some come with android so you can install your waze and other apps. Of course you need to find specified model which fit to your car (easily can get from taobao). And normally they come with the converter (dono what it called la), so no wire cutting.

I see. So the setup will bypass the stock and process it through the DSP to the speaker.

On the same concept, if i were to use my phone to play the music and i connect it throught the AUX cable. Does this mean that the iphone DAC will bypass the stock and process it through the phone to the speakers?

Just use ur HU as normal. All sound will go through dsp then to the speaker. U can ask ur preferred audio shop for much details.

It will be like this :- HU > DSP > Speakers..

Source will be your HU.. And dsp will enhance the sound from HU with its tuning abilities like EQ, time alignment and etc.. then amplify the sound as it will have built in amp..

There are some reputable dsp but it also depends on your budget.. Some can be find below 2k like venom, autocraft and crossfire to name a few..

Great info! How are you doing bro?

I wonder if others who drives a more advanced car i.e. BMW, Mercedes, etc do change their HU or they just add DSP and change the speakers assuming they do not wanna lose any of the stock functions?

Im good bro smile.gif

I have seen most of them using MATCH dsp and speakers by Audiotech fischer (Helix and Brax are their products too) since its plug and play and dont void the warranty.. also listened to the demo set in few shops.. It really give you a better ICE system despite using stock HU and speakers..

Btw what car you driving bro?

My ride is a Mazda CX-5. Previously I upgrade my setup by changing the speakers and subs below:

Speakers: Focal Expert PS 165X2
Sub: MB QUART MBPS8152

Now I am thinking if I should add in the DSP to enhance my setup further or immerse myself in the current setup a little longer
