Why not happy? The working environment good ar? How about the benefits? How much salary will be paid for the fresh graduate?

Thanks for this thread. I've gotten call for interview on the 5th of June too. May turn it down.. not worth to travel all the way to Cyberjaya knowing that I'm gonna hate the company to the guts anyway

guys, satyam is not that bad like wat u guys think... the company is good, bringing fresh graduates like us working with them.. can u imagine how many grads still dun hav jobs?... satyam is helping us guys.. plz dun giv bad impression bout them..

n dun juz simply condemn ppl without knowing them.. sanjay das, for example, is very good in managing his ces team.. bala, the java trainer(i think) is long oledi stayed in malaysia n treat the new eltp's nicely..

i dunno wat u guys feels bout satyam, but do ask many ppl's opinion rather than hearing single person's opinion...

its not true tht as a freshie, u will not learn more stuff...

satyam is giving u guys new technologies to learn, like lombardi teamworks, global 360, pega, documentum, sharepoint...

n plus, u guys will learn it for free, with a trainer to train u, not juz self learning...

n plz guys, do keep in mind tht satyam is in the process of expanding in malaysia, later u will see how well satyam will giv benefits to us

Here i will defer with you vkleong. A fresher in Satyam will earn defitenly more knowledge than any other company in any day. Satyam spends lots of money on their training, they don't only train on Java/dotnet/oracle but they train you some cutting edge technology like PEGA,Cognos,SAS,Lombardi,Global360,orticon blah blah blah. i am sure 95% of our malaysian IT guys doesn't even heard about these technlogies, and FYI each of these will cost you more than 20K if you learn outside. (Satyam doesn't charge 25K if you break the bond for freshers)

Well, for me if I am trained in these cutting edge technologies but I have no chance of utilizing them in my projects, it's pretty useless. Again I am speaking of working/project experiences, not technical skills. I am not saying that what Satyam is offering to freshies is not good. From a freshy's point of view I might think it's good for me because I am being trained on something new. But from a person who has already have working experience, I think having project experience is far more important. That's why I don't encourage freshies to join. I've been spoken to a lot of people and they tell me the same thing: "No project to do, just benching" Got project also minimal involvement.. all is just coding coding coding. How would that helping freshies? Technology is always getting newer and better, not necessarily only Satyam's training can provide it. If one is really interested in learning they can pick up a book and learn by themselves.

They have hired close to 500 in last 8 month and they have engaged 50% of them into projects, definitely all can't be in projects specially freshers unless they do justice to their potential.

I have nothing to say for this.. For most of us who have joined recently.. we are feeling very weird about one thing. Why hire so many when there's no projects to work on? When you said that only 50% have been engaged in projects, that's not a good sign. Isn't that wasting resources? If I own a company, why would I employ 500 people when I only have projects requiring 250 people?

Coming back to your own exp. you said you have done 20plus projects in 18 month, means each projects duration is less than one month, i would rather prefer quality projects than quantity, and would prefer a fortune 100 client project in my resume than any ABC local projects.

About my project's duration, you are wrong. Most of them are 3-4 months long, some even extending to a year. And I have the responsibility of procuring project requirements, coding, documentation, planning, support and assigning tasks to the team. As you can see, I gained a lot. In Satyam, so far I can only see one thing to learn, codings. And for my project's clients I believe they are far more better than fortune 100 companies. Motorola, Intel, Seagate, Dell, and HP. They were my clients.

I would again defer with you regarding chatting MSN and surfing net in satyam because they have blocked all those stuff already.Regarding coming late and leaving early, well satyam believe in strictly 9 to 6, they don't expect people to stay office late, and from this week they have impose a new law that no one to stay in office after 7.30 PM, if its urgent due to project issue then need to take the permission from Project manager and corporate services.
