compliance is one matter.

PBB themselves doesnt really know how their card/cashback works, i.e. by cb statement cycle.

from their announcement, they worded in such a way that changes is per transaction-level. e.g. 5 Jan statement date, 1-4 Jan transactions will be subjected (prorated or whatever way they think would work in their favor) to RM38 monthly cashback. This would work on monthly cashback cards, e.g. MBB's, but not PBB's.

their email explanation points to statement-level impact, i.e. any statement generated in January will be subjected to RM38 cashback. PBB didnt take account transactions made in Dec that contributes the cb in January statement. this is their shortsightedness in planning the change.

assuming they stick to Jan changes, then they should reflect the cb reduction in February statement then.

effective in January is not entirely wrong, but the way (or lack thereof) it's being reflected on the statement is not properly detailed out.

PBB should've spent more time and effort explaining all the possible scenarios affecting their current customers.


next week would be the final week of the Get Rewarde campaign. probably I can manage my supp cards properly without hitting RM633 spending for Jan cashback. am sure many others would've already maxed the cards for RM50 cb.

since there is no announcement of promo extension, i guess there could be a new promo from Jan onwards.

definitely no malicious intent.

just their comms on the changes is bad; just none of it.
