for work purpose, can lah.. Islam allows it, NO.. its not berdosa because you working with a dog for a purpose which is acceptable
then just samak after that(& samak really a simple process)

also, if keep dog as guard outside your house also OK
what Islam dont allow is to keep within  your house as pet
