Can I pay my maybank cc (statement - cashback)?
Because my outstanding is < statement, so I can't pay the statement amount, but I'm worried they will charge me..
*
Your outstanding balance is already minus cashback. Cashback are automatically credited to your account on the 1st and it will deduct it out

Hi guys. Just a noob question here. I want to ask that i have Maybank 2 Gold Card Visa and Amex. My Visa owe about 1700 and Amex about 650. It is combine limit. But for Visa in the 1700, 500 is some installment purchase. So my question is in total i owe 2350 but i plan to pay 1350 and 1000 on next month statement. So the charges is it next month i need to pay the oustanding 1000 plus 1.5% interest with whatever i swipe in next statement as i checked on the web? Am i correct?
*
Rule of thumb, whatever the statement balance is pay the exact amount and not a cent less else those bladdy banks will start charging interest like along

my credit limit only 13K  dry.gif  dry.gif
no credit limit increase after i upgrading my card to platinum

Honestly unless you spend more than 13K a month you don't need a CL increase. I have a 60K CL with my M2C and I barely spend 1K on my card monthly

If they were you, they will go for 0% 12 months Balance Transfer, assume RM50k, then withdraw the fund and place F.D. to earn interest (I estimate they could earn RM800 over 12 months).

Too bad for me I never need to BT .... mostly I spend within my capabilities and pay off my CC outstanding on time every month. Maybank is known for being stingy with CL. If I were with Citibank I'm sure my CL would have been raised to over 100K now wink.gif

How do you do this? Swipe rm1k and ask to balance transfer rm50k?
*
Cannot BT 50K unless you have oustanding 50K on card/cards you own from other banks. If you have 50K outstanding you either spend beyond your means or playing with fire. Usually those with very good discipline transfer around 20K a month between cards but in order for you to be able to do that you need to have the income for banks to give you high CL.

CC is a very good tools for you to benefit from it if you're money management is good. Else don't play with fire, CC are legal Along's

Maybank never ask for a copy of credit card bills.
So if you don't have an outstanding >RM50k, you still can play the game.

I just explained to you why some people asking for high high CL from Maybank (and a few credit cards issuers only). They create a credit card debt (but 0% interest rate) to get a FD/Savings interest in return.
*
I did not say you need to have more than X amount of outstanding to use BT. You can do BT as low as 1K outstanding but all depends on banks on their min BT you can transfer from other card.

I'm no expert in BT but if you owe only 10K you cannot BT more than 10K that's just not possible even if maybank does not need to view your CC statement how can you transfer outstanding more than you owe?

Not true now.
I just changed my mindset not long ago so you may change it now.

GenY/Z know how to "create" an "outstanding" which doesn't exist.

eg
MBB CC RM1000 outstanding, Bank2 CC RM0 outstanding
0% BT (seasonal deal) RM51000
MBB CC RM52000 outstanding, Bank2 CC RM51000 surplus (positive balance) -> transfer RM51000 to Savings account at Bank2.
*
Thanks for the clarification bro. Damm I can't not admit that I'm not old since I fall under Gen X now ... lol

Maybe I should make use of BT to make some money since my CL is high with M2C

Personally I find the tax a bit too much. There should be a free card allowance for each individual to hold before they will be taxed. I think the good number is 3 to promote responsible spending else for those card that does not have much benefits and CB all card holders will cancel them for sure

I feel the same..not worth to pay rm25 to visa/master 2card..
Now struggle which one to cancel, barcelona or amex 2card..if amex 2card only charge rm25 then confirm will use it..Need wait Maybank announcement first.
*
If I were you I will cancel the 2 card. The reason being that although Amex gives pretty good benefit but then most spending needs to happen on weekends plus Amex is not widely accepted in Malaysia compared to Visa or Master. In fact I'm super pissed with Maybank Amex as 99% of the time when I use it outside of Malaysia transaction always not succeeded. And I travel a lot and most of the time not in Malaysia

When I swipe my Ikhwan it will work on the same terminal. I have Maybank2 plat, Ikhwan Plat and also Barcelona.

Depending on how the SST is going to be charged I might just only keep my Barcelona coz at least 2% CB is confirmed and not limited to weekend spending and 2 months in a year it become 10%. Just my 2 cents

Is it possible to cancel the visa of the maybank2card and keep the amex one? Or if cancel one both also together will be cancelled?
*
Bro you need to make a bit of effort and read the forum. This question had been asked a million time and the answer is the same. Its called 2 card for a reason. Either you keep both or you cancel both.

hi all, due to the recent SST announcement for credit cards, I would like to cancel my maybank 2 card AMEX platinum only and keep the VISA platinum. Can this be done? how about the treat points in AMEX can it transfer to VISA ?
*
Ur the 1st person I seen that want to cancel the only card wth benefit in the combo and keep the useless one. If you want it that way better apply and keep Barcelona or Ikhwan as they will give you more benefit than the useless visa in the M2C

Maybe not.

If you travel abroad (I; myself, travel a lot), and buy the ticket with Amex, there's complimentary travel insurance. And there's also treat points.

I use the AMEX card more than I use my VISA Infinite (now cancelled) local and overseas, and I really like not having the contact-less feature.
*
You get free insurance for buying sir ticket with any maybank plat card. Maybe you have better luck for me stupid AMEX never worked when it needs to. I travel 90% of the time and my experience with AMEX card is failed 95% of the time (invalid transaction or rejected).

It has nothing to do with my credit limit as I have 60K credit limit with my M2C card. The same terminal and I change to my Barcelona or Ikhwan card will work.

statement balance would have already deducted cash back. If you don't make full statement balance you would be charged interest

well when is your due date for payment? if its after the cash back then just wait and then pay after the amount is updated. My statement is always on the 3rd of the month so CB had been calculated
