The drain issue might be battery degrading. My own opinion is that iPhone 6 still pretty good & everything is working.

If battery is the only concern then you do have the option to get a replacement battery. Since the iPhone 6 is probably out of warranty and has no water resistance, you can get it done at a third party shop for relatively cheap.

1. are you in any urgency to upgrade? current phone cannot use anymore?  Want to sell off current phone before value drops further? Then , go for Iphone 7.

2. If no urgency to upgrade, but would like the current iphone 8 feature, WAIT for another 12 months.

3. If money not a problem, then go for iphone 8
