Seems like the previous Uber main thread is closed.
Feel free to talk here.

Both good and bad, drivers and riders alike, are all welcomed.
This is still a democratic country.

My post also got deleted, it's not even offensive...

Do you really have to be online during meal time ?
Man, treat yourself better. You are not a slave to Uber. You can also choose not to accept the trip. Luckily its a rm30 trip, otherwise you'd have cursed even more after paying the toll to get into Puchong LOL...

Welcome !!
I am just the thread-starter, because no one wanted to start one.

QUOTE(xcamsight @ Sep 13 2017, 06:26 AM)
that is why Uber can only drive when there is surge/Boost, this way you earn the full fare as the 25% Uber Fee is offset either by the surge/Boost. Have to drive smart to maximise earning from every km of operating cost.
*
QUOTE(uberXman @ Sep 13 2017, 08:28 AM)
don't forget that you may travel 3km or more to pick up the rider. this should be counted in to your trip cost as well. if you have 10 trips in a day that need to travel 3km to pick up the passenger, that's already 30km!
*
+1
I used to allow a max of 5 km for pickup, anything more I won't accept/cancel.
Long pickup wastes time and petrol, resulting in lower efficiency.

I kena "Professionalism" last week..just because this Rider not at his pick up location..

I received his ping at a residence condo..went to the lobby..and saw his message to me "Where are you going?"

I immediately called him and told him that I'm at the lobby..he told me he was waiting for me at the mamak across the road doh.gif I quickly drove to his pick up..and realised I DID drove past him..but here's the thing..he didn't even wave when I was approaching him initially..as if I can recognize it was him

I apologized to him once he's in the car and explain the situation..instead he showed his a disgusted look and shrug off..

Next thing I know..my rating from 4.92 drop to 4.89 with a professionalism report

laugh.gif

Kinda slowed down Uber-ing recently with the price hike..not getting enough return as I'm doing this part-time =s
*
I kena 1x Professionalism during my entire Uber career.
I bet it must be one of those trips which I cancelled w/o calling LOLX...

Navigation kena quite a few when were still a new driver though.
Anway, "bo gan" Uber.
Money in the pocket is more important hahaha...

QUOTE(yunalesca @ Sep 14 2017, 02:05 PM)
Moved from Uber to grab 2 weeks ago. So far:

1. I no need chase trip count in grab. In Uber, i have to hit quest count 54 or 39 to get incentive. If i hit 53 only, i get no incentive. This is usually very stressful. Sometimes i have to force myself to drive until 2am to get 54 trips. I dare not cancel any trip no matter how stupid the rider is. I just swallow and accept the rider abuse to complete the trip. In grab, the incentive is based on hourly, AR, CR and rating. If cannot hit target, there is always the next hour.

2. The pickup distance in grab is usually less than 2km. In Uber, it is average 5km or more (even received 20km )

3. In grab, the app don't care what route you use, the fare is fixed. Rider cannot change drop off point midway. In Uber, the app calculate the distance traveled. If you used shortcut, the fare becomes lower because shorter distance. Rider can change drop off point any time and the fare recalculate to cheaper fare. Uber got upfront fare that rider agreed to pay when booking. The driver may get lower fare, Uber pocket the difference.

3. Grab got minimum fare like rm 4 or rm 5. Uber don't have. It depends on distance. Can be as low as rm 1.00 i think.

4. Grab fare is round up to ringgit. No need deal with coins. Uber fare is up to sen which is very confusing when 10 sen or 20 sen. Need to find change.

5. Grab fare is usually higher than Uber fare.

6. It is easier to get ping in grab than Uber. (More riders)

7. Myth : Uber got more civilised riders. Fact : both the same. Got good and bad riders. Just depend on your luck.

Hope this helps.
*
1. And the Uber incentive keeps decreasing everytime you hit.
2. Agree +1.
3. Agree +1, this is what we call "being robbed". Happens everywhere in the world with Uber.
3. At least Uber implemented base fare lately, so all the fare have kinda increased by ~rm1. In the past, I have made some trips below rm2 when there is no base fare - lowest was rm1.50 before commission.
4. This one is not so important lar, just round up/down accordingly.
5. Agree +1.
6. Same as I have said before "you ain't got rider if you ain't got driver". If this continues, I think Uber is going to be gg soon.
7. Agree +1, most riders have at least 2 apps to compare when requesting a ride. It's dependent on your luck and also location, KL folks are mostly demanding IMO.

It's really not easy to survive in this e-hailing service after reading all the posts in that thread..

Driver should clean up their car but riders seem expecting more than that...in car air purifier?

Finally I understand why I get some no reason low star ratings right now..Their expectation is over my limit.

I thought sending them safely to their destination with a standard cleanliness car is enough but obviously its not for some picky riders..

It's my fault for not reaching their expectation for a RM3 fare from them, I need to think twice if I should continue providing my service to them..
*
After a few trips, you can always stop at a petrol station for toilet and cleaning up your car a little.
You can also use a car vacuum to do it.
I'll never allow my car to be this dirty btw.

QUOTE(amad108 @ Sep 17 2017, 03:54 AM)
just wanna ask our fellow driver uber here..
i just saw from facebook UG (uber/grab) someone screenshot (from uber driver apps) getting rm2k+ in one whole week for end of august this year... is it really possible?
*
Yes, it is possible. Work 90 hours a week you can tahan or not ?
I mean 90 online hours, not including your toilet and meal break.
This translates to 15 hours per day for 6 days a week.
It means you will be working for about 17 hours a day.

QUOTE(xcamsight @ Sep 17 2017, 06:35 AM)
have u experience rider that back stab you with low rating even the whole trip everything seems normal, friendly chit chat with rider, clean nice car, pickup, drive safely and arrive destination, everything's good and you give rider 5-star. Moment later check rating dropped. Dunno what the rider unhappy about.

The Uber rating system is a bit unfair to driver, rider can indiscriminately rate the trip. Once fetch a rider, he was alright nothing wrong but when arrived at destination, green screen show to collect additional RM5 outstanding. He asked me why? I replied nicely did you cancel any order after 5min? He said that was yesterday. I advice him nicely that if u wish to cancel make it before 5min else u will get a penalty. He paid and went off. Next thing I saw my rating dropped. Inilah kebodohan Uber rating system, can just simply rate even though driver-partner gave their best.
*
Chill lar bro, at least you can rate the rider as well.

Biasa lar.

Uber will normally be the 1st choice for rider due to cheaper fare.
But if the waiting time is too long, rider normally won't wait.
Some more got risk of driver cancellation (me) hahaha...

none of the driver like the current driver rating system. 19 out of riders give 5 stars, 1 rider give one star....then our rating drop like shit...

part of the driver life need to cope with it. some experience driver don't really give a damn about it as long as it is not too low.
*
When you have a lot of rated trips, you will start not to care anymore.
1 out of 500 rating won't affect your overall rating much.

Of course, try to make the trip safe and pleasant - if it is possible.

it does bro. Just don't understand how their rating system work. Say only the rating based of last 500 trips. But I notice driver rating drop the moment 1 rider give a low star. And it takes tons of 5-star to get it back by 0.01.  bangwall.gif
*
Of course it drops.
But 0.01 or 0.02 means little, unless someone continuously get 1*.
Then he/she should go and check the mirror to find out what's wrong IMO.

Want to ask about uber incentive, is it similar to grab? Where can check?

And also if i press cancellation after 5 mins no show up, the fee is how much?
*
Check inside the app, it will show the amount of trips as well.
Good thing about Uber is that the app is still quite stable ?

Cancellation fee = rm5 (before commission deduction).

I jz started uber, when only can get incentive? And also will you all cancel if 5mins past? RM5 Sounds good.. ez profit..
*
I will call once I have arrived at the pickup location.
If still unable to get thru to the rider, I will cancel after 5-10 mins.
After 25% deduction, rm3.75 is your nett (plus I think you need to be at the pickup location to be entitled for this).

QUOTE(AskarPerang @ Sep 24 2017, 02:12 PM)
rumors but not fact.
then again why need to maintain high acceptance rating in Uber? is there any added bonus?
only cancellation rating you must maintain. but not acceptance rating.

just ignore only those far pick up ping request. drive 10 km pick up a passenger just want to go 1km journey?  doh.gif
*
It's total BS by Uber.
During my final days driving, my AR ~80% and CR ~20% - yet still continuous ping.
Less ping means less customer, you can confirm it with the map colour and the Uber Rider app.
Too many lies told by Uber, do not believe everything they have said.
Money in the pocket is more important.

QUOTE(Vincent9696 @ Sep 24 2017, 04:09 PM)
Hi ladies n gentleman,

I would like to raise few question which i doubt about, hopefilly u all can share ur valued opinion

1)5star rating is it important?can we dont rating rider after completed trip(i mean during drop off point)

2)how to entitle guarantee fare?i drive in weekend and seem like no entitle for it

3)it seems like ping request controlled by uber is it?no matter how hard i drive, normally is 2 trip per hour only, although i saw many ppl waiting uber cab in my location, but i didnt get the ping request.
*
1. Rating is a measurement on how good a driver you are. Heard will get banned if it is too low, I have never gotten to that point though. You need to rate your rider upon trip completion, no exception.
2. Have not heard about guarantee fare since last year, maybe the newbies might have ?
3. Everything is controlled by the system, including where to send you. Don't underestimate the power of the system LOL...

my weekly promotion incentive has been reducing every week. from rm 190 for 54 trips to rm 105 recently (i hit the target every week). so i stopped driving uber last 2 weeks and this week the promotion incentive went back rm 190 again.

so uber will punish you if you work hard, and reward you if you drive less.  bangwall.gif
*
LOL...
I still receive my weekly quest e-mail from Uber.
Some of it is almost +rm8 per trip.

QUOTE(ieian81 @ Sep 26 2017, 06:28 PM)
All this promo codes really turning a lot of people into tempang.

I wonder what's the thinking behind always providing all this free rides. My only answer is that is gives a false income to jack up their revenue. And all this promo cost parked under Marketing cost.

All this promo really screws up the earning. The income is not organic anymore. All the tempang dilutes all the serious normal Uber users.

What are you guys thoughts on this ?
*
"All the tempang dilutes all the serious normal Uber users."
Fully agree 110%.
Creating unnecessary surge for the daily Uber riders.

I have always hated these kind of short trips, since the day I started driving.
All these ride-hailing promos are creating the new "tempang culture" in Malaysia.

And the only reason I can think of is to provide false statistics for their HQ (number of riders). Uber has been here for so long already, many have tried and left - so there's not much Marketing needed anyway if there is no major improvement.

Just my opinion.

Woi, sure or not + RM8 per trip. Highest I know also it's RM210 for 54 trips.
*
Serious leh, it was something like 12 trips for rm95 on Fri-Mon.
Really need me to dig my e-mail from weeks ago ?

Tempted me to upload my latest insurance cover note LOL...

QUOTE(Ice BabY @ Sep 28 2017, 01:41 AM)
How does uber incentive works? Is there any chart to see like grab peak chart?
*
Don't know about any incentive, only available to newbie or non-KV drivers ? Can anyone confirm this ?
The number of trip for quest bonus is available on your driver app, you can check it there.
In fact, 99% of the time you can check from your driver app.

QUOTE(sartan13 @ Sep 28 2017, 02:14 AM)
The majority of GC drivers are Flexi drivers. They gun for big fares only like cabbies. So, in retrospect, they are paying us incentive drivers. IMO Grab and Uber have yet to realise this but they need both types of drivers; drivers like long rides and drivers who like short rides. With the money we are making, it does not make sense to accpet all rides, however both companies are expecting that as drivers, we must serve irrelevant. What they need to do is drive themselves for 2 weeks. Believe me, they will see the light.
*
I am a lazy Flexi for Grab now, making ~10 trips per week LOL...
I only pick ppl who is on the same destination/way.
Extra money while going to my client's place, why not ?

Seriously, as a driver, we have the right to know the destination of the passenger and we have the right to decide either to take the job or not.
*
+100
It's my car, damn it. Stupid Uber owns nothing. As if Uber drivers make way more than their competitors.
Why other competitor such as Grab can allow this ? Even Lyft is also allowing it ?
By not allowing drivers to see destination, they can perform a lot of hanky-panky stuffs.

QUOTE(jasontantenghuat @ Sep 28 2017, 05:58 PM)
One of the reason Uber started was because taxi drivers were rejecting customers due to the destinations.

I haven't driven in a year but when I was driving, I wasn't too fussy about destinations. Got Genting and KLIA a few times though but that time, there's a high chance you would get a returning trip.
*
You won't be bothered about destination if you are a full-time driver.
You won't be bothered about destination if you are earn better than those that can see destination.
But this is not the case.

And 1 year ago is a long time in this ride-hailing industry.
You see changes every month.
