Quite many possibility, try filter out yourself.

I disabled Uber app. Use Waze a couple of times. Not losing GPS signal issue. Works well even under bridge.
When Uber app is running, both Waze and GMaps not working properly.

Looks like latest update of Uber app doesn't work with my phone (Xiaomi Note 5) cry.gif

No choice, gotta switch to ublur in-app navigation...

But if use waze we do not know the pick up distance for another rider if we still got rider in our car right?
*
You will still be able to see the pick up distance, as Uber app will come to the foreground. In any case, the distance and estimated time are far from accurate.

I used Uber navigation for about 2 weeks when I had problem with Waze. (Actually it's Uber app which caused problem in Waze.) Uber navigation has quite a number of shortcomings:
- Many roads are not in the map, e.g. the road leading to Awan Besar LRT station.
- Often, it doesn't know if a road is one-way, and tells us to drive in the wrong direction, e.g. the road in front of Astro in Technology Park Malaysia.
- Estimated time to pick-up and drop-off points are less accurate compared to Waze.
- When one approaches pick-up or drop-off point, additional information is displayed, which leaves just over half the screen space for map.

On the other hand, Waze gives us the fastest route, while Uber's estimated fare is based on shortest route. If you take the longer (albeit faster) route, the actual fare will be adjusted, but the rider can dispute it.

Yes, i try uber navigation before and face this problem before. then i change to waze, but face another problem is when ping come in i am unable to see the pick up distance and force to accept the request first due to i got rider in my car. after drop off i just can see the pick up distance for the new rider.

Is my understand correct for this?

That's why I say, got Surge only I go out do Uber. But for this week la, see how first, whether they will bring back Ace.
*
I prefer Boost to Ace/Quest. Too bad Uber has largely replaced the former with the latter.

For Ace/Quest, if I foresee I cannot complete the required number of trips, I would have no mood to drive.

8.4km, let's assume take 12 minutes to complete, so fare should be RM11 like that. After minus commission only get around RM8.

Pickup plus drop off about 17km. But get RM8 only before minus petrol. Assume FC is 14km/l. After minus petrol only get less than RM5.

Haiya.. "Don't accept" is something very hard for Grab drivers to understand.

Before that, ublur would suspend me for 5 min if I rejected 3 consecutive pings. Not anymore.

Maybe they know they don't have enough drivers...

But then Uber will lose money big time, taking money out of their own pockets to give drivers.
They are a corporation, not some charity organization.
Losing money over a period of time and they will quit for sure.
+1

Uber is losing money everywhere in the world. So are Grab and Didi. They only survive on investor money.

If they raise fare too much, riders will go away. If they lower the fare too much, drivers will move on.

What they probably can do is to generate auxiliary income, e.g. selling ad space on rider apps, or require riders to watch a video clip before they can get a promo code.

Else, they must wait for autonomous cars to come into the picture before they can turn black. But that would be end of the road for drivers.

I have been driving Uber for about a year, but joined Grab recently. Here is my initial impression of Grab in comparison with Uber, which some of you may find helpful.

1.
Grab's base fare is RM5.
Not sure of Uber's base fare, but I had some trips of which my earnings - after deducting Uber fee - were RM2.xx.

2.
However, during peak hours when traffic is heavy, Grab's fares seem to be lower.
It is frustrating that, after being stuck in jam for an hour, the fare I got (before commission), is just about RM10.

3.
Grab assigns a rider to the nearest driver.
So, as drivers, we need to know where the potential riders are, and get as close to them as possible.
An Uber driver can get request even when he/she is not the nearest to the rider.
I think there are pros and cons of each algorithm.

4.
More Grab riders are smokers or vapers.

If you stop doing Uber for a few weeks - let's say you do Grab at this period - Uber would improve the Quest for you 😏

Every time you complete Quest, ublur will make it harder the following week.

If so try UM. You may get trips within the campus. (But no guarantee.)

Uber CS is based in Europe I think. They are not familiar with roads in Malaysia.

As predicted by me months ago, if Uber doesn't change, it will die .. and it does die ... https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...ian-operations/
*
Even if ublur did change it will still die, because it has the same investor as grab, who doesn't want competition between them.
