I have used maxis for 17 years and still using the 5gb package for rm50. Average usage include calls is rm80.

The reason I want to switch are no data when back to my hometown and in law's house and get less for what i pay now.

I choose celcom because the line is strong for my hometown and in law's house.

Any advise before port to celcom? such as bad cs, line coverage, etc?

well, celcom still wins hands down in a lot of rural areas. But don't expect quality to be as good as Maxis in heavily populated areas.

No issues with data usage, but prepare to get annoying telco promo sms almost every other day.

Go for it. Currently they're expanding their 4G coverage, expect their coverage on par with Maxis or beyond at the end of 2017 or early next year.

Also, getting help from them via Twitter is the best way from my experience, their respond with my queries were pretty fast.

I have the same issue with TS.

Currently on Maxis One Plan 98, but I work in a really rural town (Oya-Dalat district) in Sarawak. Maxis is the weakest telco here when compared to Celcom & Digi. However, in the big town side of Sarawak (Sibu, Bintulu, Kuching), it's the one of the strongest telcos.

Was contemplating porting to Digi for their Infinite 150 plan, however Digi indoor coverage is so weak in my house in West Malaysia, call drops frequently and only 1 bar 3G indoor signal. My dad uses Digi, and when I call him and he is at home, the call drops so frequently and sometimes call doesn't even go through. I think it's not worth it. However, where I work in rural interior Sarawak, Digi is decently strong.

Deciding to join Celcom as it's a good balance between both the telcos. In my work place, Celcom works great due to its excellent rural coverage. And in my hometown in Semenanjung, I know it will work great too.

Might take up the First Gold Plus plan with Celcom.

Previously having 3 numbers under Celcom, few things I am going to summarize based on my personal observation,
- When someone want to call me, the 1st call cannot go through, 2nd call no problem. Then I'll received sms offering missed call notification subscription for some fee. Few times for 3 numbers and it was sort of tricks.
- brace of rage when almost every wee hour receiving celcom's promotion on new products, cmt etc etc.
- Ask to disable voice mail is a hell no for prepaid.
- Poor LTE speed and coverage if you stay in or going to visit Melaka later on.

I used to had bad experience with Celcom.
Pay up all your remaining bills.

Then go to your designated service provider, e.g. Digi, Maxis.
Tell them you had intended to port out.

They will be more than happier to help you.
