I used adb command line.. i downloaded the apk from apkpure website.. then connect to my firestick using adb over wifi.. then issue a windows command line adb install astrogo.apk something like that..

i suggest you download on your stick app name downloader from troypoint.. something like a browser that facilitates download process..

1. Download and install Downloader from Amazon App Store
2. Launch Downloader
3. Open google
4. Search for this exact keyword "apkpure astro go", without the quote " symbols
5. Download and install astro go

No need for mouse/airmouse.. you can use the remote to navigate around..

Doesn’t work for me.
I’m on fire stick 4K as well.
It’s the same issue which I tried a month ago whereby I couldn’t get the cursor to point onto the username at the login page. Apart from that, the interface is totally stretched.

That's appears to be the webview problem, unable to run the javascript needed by Astro website thereby causing webpage not rendered correctly.

Please check that your version of fire stick is the same as the other one which is said to be ok.

well then.. go and buy the usb otg cable.. i use this one:

https://shopee.com.my/product/31974753/1147166798

Here are the list of streaming devices that I have tested myself with new AOTG v 2.xxx.x

Can install, can login, can play the all channels including HD live tv channels and HD VOD without any issue:
Nvidia Shield (Netflix HD@4K)
Tanix Tx6 (Netflix SD)
Beelink GT1 Mini (Netflix SD)
Tanix Tx3 Mini-A (Dual band wifi, Bluetooth, Android 8.1) (Netflix SD) - Common issue is with lot of Samsung TV. Screen will go blank after launch AOTG. Other TV brand also affected but not as much as Samsung models
Tanix Tx3 Max (Netflix SD)

Can install, can login, only SD channels are smooth, others HD VOD and live TV playback is sluggish, almost unwatchable:
Mibox 3 (Netflix HD@4K)
Mibox S (Netflix HD@4K)
Mecool M8S Pro W normal android (Netflix SD)
Mecool M8S Pro L normal android (Netflix SD)
Beelink GT Mini-A AndroidTV version (Netflix HD@4K through Netflix ESN hacked by Beelink)
Amazon Fire TV Cube 2018 (Netflix HD@4K)
Amazon Fire Stick 4K (Netflix HD@4K)

Can install, cannot login, can only see FB sign in option, not whole email/mobile number username and password prompt
Tanix Tx2 (Netflix SD)

** UPDATED BY OTHERS **
Can install, can login, can play the all channels including HD live tv channels and HD VOD without any issue:
Tanix Tx5 Max (Netflix SD)
Minix Neo U1 (Netflix SD)
Minix Neo U9H (Netflix SD)
Himedia Q10 Pro (Netflix SD)
Himedia Q5 Pro (Netflix SD)

Therefore, at the moment, you cannot have both AOTG and Netflix unless you plan to spend lot of money on Nvidia Shield.

Check with the seller.. shopee, lazada, carousell.. check the item description, it will state that the box is unrooted by seller in order to use aotg without issue.

Waiting for mine to arrive (cod) either today or tmrw.

it's not quite that la...

for the experienced, curious and with the tools, it's not something that cannot be dealt with.

but for newbies, it's always better to get an unrooted box or a box that can be unrooted easily.

rather than risk it not able to do this n that, risk bricking it.

It does show that people are still one-track minded in wanting to unroot their boxes, when there are already actual testimonies that unroot is not the only path available.

I don't think it has much to do with the choice of air mouse. We can't anchor an air mouse cursor properly to a particular point on the TV screen properly when using air mouse. When using an traditional optical mouse, you get to achieve the accuracy easily.

I agree with @puchongite on the accuracy. Sometimes while relaxing, have get up to get better signal & improve the precision. Years ago, I used a BT keyboard DiNovo Mini to control a minitower Desktop PC i put in the hall as 'HTPC'
Sadly logitech never continue this product line.

ATM I'm getting subpar performance from this Mini BT3 keyboard bought 2013

But have either of you tried a good airmouse such as the ones from Minix? You should before you lump it all in as bad. Airmouses (not a word..yeah I know) biggest case scenario would be for dragging stuff around and not for sniping in RPG games. Use a good one, adjust a little and you'll be glad you did. I prefer a one remote that does it all and looks like it belongs in a living/media room as opposed to switching from a traditional pc keyboard and mouse combo.. However, more natural that may feel due to our familiarity.

Do you use AstroGo ?

The use of air mouse is not just in dragging. Dragging itself is easy, but putting the pointer at the correct starting point accurately is difficult. When you lift your hand up, your own hand could be shaky, especially for the older folks.

The use of airmouse is also in point and click.

When a point and click is needed, if the area available for pointing is small, then it requires one to move to a point on the TV screen accurately.

Try to click the two top right buttons on the Astro Go ( search button and app setting buttons ). Also try to change the subtle of a playing back video.

When you use an airmouse to move over the screen, it is not easy to rest the pointer accurately on the required location.

Try it and let me know the result. smile.gif

Yes I use Astro Go on a daily basis.. Why would I hang in here if I don't.. pfft.. Anyways, Yes.. I have done all these actions you've mentioned.. Several times in the past and after your posting. None pose any issue whatsoever to the Neo airmouse and or a good airmouse. I can just as easily drag, point, click, disable and re-enable the airmouse function with ease.. Switching back and forth even to the keyboard behind.. no issues. So perhaps, you might not want to blame a user problem on the hardware and or implementation. All drivers and cars can go from point A to B as per default specs, but it takes a little extra to be able confidently handle on a race track.

Lastly, my hands are steady.. And as for the old folks argument, there are none in here..So moot point. And I've always advocated to not give android boxes to the elderly. Especially ones you hint at.. If your old folk or any folk is that old and or that disadvantaged.. Please get them a decent IPTV app and or use Kodi's Live TV feature. Both allowing for smooth, easy directional button usage..OR my favorite.. Just give them the darn Asterruk decoder and remote. They'll live and breathe easier. icon_idea.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

If the seller don't even know tx6 it's root or not & I buy, China factory is default rooted then I'm dead, cannot use aotg.

Is there any workaround? Flash original non root firmware to Android 7?

That is why i suggest confirming that with seller... some know, some dont.

Mind u, not all unrooted boxes will work with astrogo.... there is more to that.

There is work around... use some app to close root, hide root... flash to some other rom...

But that is for experienced users, with tools.

If not confident, just stick to the listed boxes that users have confirmed fine... just a few posts up or last 2 pages.

Haven't you read that there is a modded AstroGo apk which make the apk stop checking for root ?
