"The operators of the platform has complied with our request to block the video game 'Fight of Gods' from being downloaded by Malaysian users.
"Therefore, the blocked access on the site steampowered.com will now be lifted," Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said on Facebook Saturday.
Steam was earlier blocked by MCMC for failing to comply with the 24-hour ultimatum to disable downloads of the controversial video game by Malaysians.
MCMC said it was committed to protecting users in Malaysia and will not compromise with any parties that demeans the sanctity of religion and racial harmony.
It also reminded users to be vigilant and to use their discretion in selecting content.
On Twitter, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak confirmed that the blocking of the site would be lifted.
"Steam had disabled the download of the game in Malaysia in accordance with our warning and request last night. Will uplift the blocking today," he tweeted Saturday.
Salleh had said the video game, developed by a Taiwanese gaming studio, had degraded religions and religious leaders and posed a huge threat to racial unity and harmony.
The controversial video game features the likes of Jesus Christ and Gautama Buddha as playable characters.
He said creating and spreading offensive content was an offence under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
