MBDA confirm the delivery of VL MICA to RTA next year.
QUOTE "Even though our missiles are more expensive than other national missiles, the MICA system does not require a radar to point the target at all times. And the firing rate was higher, which is better than the ESSM, which usually requires two shots of rockets. And the radar pointing at all time. Overall, the cost is cheaper. " sauce:TAF |

QUOTE(azriel @ Nov 8 2017, 01:46 PM) RMAF to set up team to evaluate maritime patrol aircraft - RMAF Chief By Bernama - November 7, 2017 @ 4:17pm On offer by the Japanese Government to transfer its Kawasaki P-1 maritime surveillance aircraft to Malaysia for free, Affendi said the RMAF technical team had just left for the country to evaluate the offer. He noted that the Kawasaki P-1 aircraft had been in operation for more than 30 years and was nearing the end of its life cycle. “The aircraft is not manufactured anymore by the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). We don’t start buying aircraft which is obsolete... it’s an old system,” he said. -- Bernama this is P-1. maybe misquoted. P-3C kot... This post has been edited by pcboss00: Nov 10 2017, 11:16 PM |

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Nov 24 2017, 03:08 PM) Bizarre Cold War stories: The one time where Pepsi Co. was the 6th most powerful Naval force in the world interesting Again the Soviet Union found a novel if somewhat bizarre solution: In the 1980s they had plenty of military equipment inherited from the Cold War. The USSR offered to pay Pepsi with a fleet of obsolete naval ships. Bizarre as it seems, Pepsi accepted the deal because they knew that it was the only way to continue to sell Pepsi in the USSR and maintain their considerable market share there. The agreement included 17 submarines, a cruiser, a frigate and a destroyer, which were immediately sold to a Swedish company for scrap recycling. Those naval warships made Pepsi become, for a few days, the 6th largest Naval power in the world (on paper at least, as the ships were shipped straight to Sweden from the USSR). The president of Pepsi, Donald Kendall, told the American National Security Adviser, General Colin Powell: "We are disarming the USSR faster than you". |

Suspected cross-border kidnapper shot dead in Lahad Datu
KOTA KINABALU: A suspected cross-border kidnapper was shot dead by security forces in the east coast of Sabah early Monday morning. The gunman, who is believed to be part of a new cross-border kidnap group, was killed in the waters off Lahad Datu at about 3am. There are no further details on the incident at this time. Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Ramli Din is scheduled to give a press conference in Lahad Datu at 2pm, a media advisory from the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) said. A number of known kidnap for ransom groups have been eliminated following intensive operations against Abu Sayyaf since late last year. However, there have been intelligence reports since late October stating that certain groups in the southern Philippines were planning to launch kidnap raids in Sabah waters. There have been no reports of kidnappings in Sabah waters so far this year. sos |

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Apr 17 2018, 09:56 AM) The Malaysian Army has long held an ambition for a 6x6 APC, especially for the type of United Nations peacekeeping mission that Malaysia is currently performing in Lebanon. There were once reports connecting the Anoa, a 6x6 APC from PT Pindad in Indonesia, to the Malaysian Army, but such a deal never materialised. what's wrong with the 8x8? too big and expensive? |
