Kurds are more powerful now than they have ever been in Syria, they won't give it up without a fight. Which is the main reason Turkey is itching for a fight and they have enough FSA mercs to be their ground troops supported by their specialists, armor and air superiority. Turks won't be happy as long as there is a recognised Kurdish State near their border. If they don't put a stop to it, their NATO allies might decide to give it a statehood. This was precipitated by the US declared intention to form a 'border' force, and when borders = statehood.

Russians know this 'intent' will agitate the Turks so they probably tried to get the Kurds to accept Assads rule but with autonomy. They refused and Russia basically gave Turks the green light. Kurds thought their NATO allies will step in to stop the Turks, unfortunately for them, Turkey is an important strategic ally that must be respected less they lean towards Russia's influence. Which is why you read most NATO countries do not object but just raise alarm out of courtesy.

Kurds in Afrin is in a bad spot and will have to choose either to be completely taken over by FSA/Turks who will probably eradicate them or give up their federal idea and choose autonomy under Assad shielding them from Turkey with Russian guarantees.

While Turkey, a NATO state is attacking them and their US ally not supporting them militarily, Assad is allowing Kurdish forces to be reinforced by their counterparts from Manbij through SAA control borders, allowing theirs hospitals to treat their fighters and condemning Turkey's actions as an invasion and vowing to shoot Turkeys planes down. Most of this is just posturing but Assad needs to show he is the 'good' guy in this situation.

Very nice. Malaysia should really get more ATGMs.

All were strictly long range missiles launched either from the air or ships.

Somehow I feel the US gave the Syrians and Russians fair warning time before the strikes. 2-3 days I think since Syrian Airforce moved their forces to Russian bases for better protection. Also this time strikes were concentrated on 3 targets, the alledge labs producing chemical weapons and a Hezbollah base. No airbase were hit.

Previous strike was concentrated on one single airbase.

Forgive my lack of military knowledge, but I always thought the best action after an initial ambush attack is to get out of the kill-zone. I mean being ambushed basically means you were caught by surprise by an unknown number of enemies. Isn't charging in kind of suicidal?

The last time Gurkhas were guarding an international event on Singapore, they actually shot dead 1 or 2 locals who failed to stop when instructed. The locals were high or something when driving and failed to stop. Gurkhas opened fire and stopped the car.

Saudi coalition progressing but getting mauled.

Coalition now pushing into Hodeidah province but facing fierce resistance as this is one of the port cities that Houthi relies on.

So far, Houthis do not have the initiative, mostly defending their Southern holdings.

In the north, they still make some raids into Jizan province, but these are just hit and run against Saudi border guards. It does not really affect the war in Yemen.
