Guys,

I want to buy an economy 55~65" TV (~RM3K). I have checked Lazada and there is plenty of choices from the likes of LG, Samsung, Hisense, Haier, Philips, Panasonic etc. However there were not much informations provided by sellers.

Are these TV more or less same with one another without nothing special to differentiate them?

BTW, I wanna buy one to replace my Plasma TV from 8 years back.

I bought Samsung 55" 4K UHD Smart TV (TU8500) a few ago, very happy with it. Connected to my PC for movies and gaming, no issues.

This model caught my attention too for using dual led like Q60T. I havent went for a look yet. It is just that I went to Giant to pickup some groceries and get a glimpse of some Hisense and Haier 65" TV. They look pretty decent to me. Cost only 2.5k or so. Not to mention Samsung is using their dead Tizen while others are using Android TV which is far more flexible (albeit without Chrome browser which I think you can sideload).

I don't know how to review it. My last purchase was a Panasonic Plasma TV from almost 10 years ago.

ER...Unfortunately no ONKING outlet in kl/cheras

I don't know. I think I used to see one in KD but I can't be sure if they are still there.

Anyway I checked online, and it seems like all these sub USD 1K TV are more of less same unless you buy previous year high end model on clearance. HDR or what are basically useless since they dont go above 300 nits. Hence I'm not too worried about picture quality, black levels etc. I will use it in living room which is bright anyway and I don't think it will be worse than my 10 years old plasma. I don't even have Netflix or HBO. Just youtube, Astro most of the time.

I always have plasma and personally I cant stand LED.
*
There's no more plasma. I needed to replace a 37" secondary tv. Therefore better upgrade main tv and use the plasma tv as secondary tv. I think led lcd has improved a lot compared to those years using ccfl.

The reason I upgrade is because the old tv has a plastic film instead of glass and it turned whitish at the bottom part of the even which blocked the view when not being view from front, on even eye level.

Received my TV and watching it now. So much brighter than my old plasma tv especially when watching esport on YouTube. I think I'm satisfied.

I noticed some tearing with some YouTube playback especially natural motion such as hair movement when wind blowing. Not sure it's the quadcore not powerful enough or just the memc not powerful enough.

Yea, thanks for picture, it's HDR but not full 4k.
Your setting is set to 1440p60 instead of 2160p60 in youtube.
How is picture quolity in Dolby Vision ?
*
Like I said, my old tv is a 10 years old plasma. I dont really have a modern tv to compare to. I think it's great but not as good/pop as those 4-5k panel that I seen before in showroom. Also I have notice judder on certain fast moving part like matrix (on YouTube).

Samsung 65TU8500
Above 2 models.. any bro here own it? or any comparison b4.. i try chk youtube.. they do hv review..but no comparison both models...hmmmm... hmm.gif
*
I think they dont do comparison like that. Usually they compare same year model (different brand but within the same category or this year vs last year (same brand and category during release)

TU8500 is not a high end TV. It is this year midrange tv from Samsung with dual LED. Whereas I think X8000 is Sony last year highend model being discounted.

Free to correct me if Im wrong. I have tried looking for comparison too but just couldnt find any.

From what I can see the majority chooses Sony X85J or X90J. Any recommendation for Samsung brand?
*
I think they are the only one with affordable 4k 120hz. Samsung went nuts with Neo QLED. Even QN85 gets ADS/IPS screen instead of VA. You'll need to go all out to QN90A if you want a VA panel.

QN90A also IPS panel unless it’s the 85” as confirmed by bro Convael. You can check the Samsung thread also. I am also interested to get the 55 but too bad not VA.

We dont get the QN90A like those reviewed by Rtings in US.
*
I'm surprised... no regret getting the X90J for me then. I was under the impression QN90A would definitely get VA after watching few youtubers bashing X85J (certain sizes) and QN85A.

Hi... I'm considering between X85J vs X90J... are u using X90J now? Can share your review? Is it worth top up the extra 1k for X90J? I'm casual user, watch TV and android box movies and series only.

Thanks.
*
I dont really know. I think X90J advantages over X85J are XR chip and FALD. I never compare in showroom. I upgrade to X90J after buying hisense A7400F last year and the improvement is significant.
