Question, if one was buying 65" for mostly streaming content like on 4k youtube and HD astro, would Hisense 65n3000uw for RM3250 suffice? Or would it be better to go for Hisense 65m5010uw with bells & whistles like HDR and HDCP2.2(which one has no interest in using in the near future) for RM3799?

QUOTE(Convael @ Oct 28 2018, 06:55 PM) These HDR TVs are literally going by titles only . They bring almost nothing on the table beside showing very little color improvement during HDR playbacks. TBF, they should not be classified as HDR displays at all. But as an SDR and 4K TV , they will make do . HDR Videos on youtube are fairly limited anyway . The 5010 has a more premium look with metal frame bezel , 4 HDMI ports ( n3000 has 3 ). Correct. I'm still trying to justify the rm549 for HDR, one extra HDMI port and one USB 3.0 port. It's for my parents actually and I know they won't be using any set top blu ray or I'll plugging any gaming consoles to it. I forsee streaming services taking center stage in the next few years.

Since this is 65" TV thread, I thought I'd share my thoughts on the cheapest 65" TV in the market right now. The HAIER LE65K6500UA. This one actually replaced my aging 34" CRT Panasonic TX-34P180M. I got it for RM2299 from Sen Heng. I did purchase it extended 3 year warranty and a wall bracket that supports up to 80".
The viewing angles aren't that impressive. But straight on it's fine. Currently using it to watch Astro HD. The Tamil HD channels do look impressive. Probably it's because I'm so used to seeing CRT The HD movies channels do look abit muted on the colours.
For the built in app, it's a total disaster though. It runs on Andoid version 4.4.4 / Kit Kat. It doesn't have normal YouTube, only Smart Youtube. Also it's limited to 1080p, I've confirmed this with Haier support. For some reason choosing VP9 stream will close the app and bring you to the menu. AVC streams work fine.
USB port is 2.0 and you get 2. HDMI is 2.0, you get 3 and you have ARC support. I decided to try Chromecast Ultra and it does display 4k60hz correctly. The only thing I couldn't confirm is if this tv has HDR(it's advertised on their cny brochure).
UPDATE: Astro Ultra Box works in 4k with this tv. Just make sure to enable 4K Enhanced from the tv settings menu or else Astro will display at 1080p only.
