Dear all, thinking of getting a brand new 65inch TV given the current lockdown and upcoming online promotion.

Shortlisted the following models:
1) Samsung UA65RU7100KXXM, price: RM 3088
2) LG 65UM7290, price RM 2880. Free Wall Mount and Magic Remote
3) Sony 65X7000G, price RM 3199
4) Philips 65PUT6023S, price: RM2484. Free Wall Mount

Did some online research, specs for above models seem very similar. Any recommendations or experience for the above models? thank you

Ok.. just went for brief testing at senq, saw these few models that caught my eyes.

sony 55inch a8g rm7999
Sony 55inch x8500g rm4999
Lg c9 55inch rm7999
Lg sm8100 55inch rm3999
Panny gx800k 55inch 4088
Panny gx800k 65inch 5999

Seems like gx800k is mid range king for 2019, i see same normal 1080p movie, it definitely own the other model in the series like 740k and 600k. The brightness and details is much better. Turn to my bak is LG sm8100, which showing demo. The color is very punchy compare to gx800k but it is demo. Panny demo video is not bad also bery detailed but if compare fz1000 i can see fz1000 color more more popping.

Next i go see sony, sony oled is good too, and the x8500g is good as well for demo. Very detailed.

My actual love at first sight is c9.. definitely owned my eyes and the lg interface is much better also the remote.. but the price is.. damn half price diff.

Wanna ask if compare among those lcd model, which one is better? I see panasonic gx800 demo the color is not as punchy as others at similar price, but i know is demo, and all is sey at dynamic. Can anyone know what should i look into if for testing? I plan to bring my own pendrive to try.. any movie clip or wat is a good testing clip that can give better representation than the one showing at show room?

ok here we go....before this I was using a 40-inch LED. Probably 10 years old, bought it for RM3600 when LED  was just launched. Had been thinking of buying a new TV for quite some time as the old tv was too small for my living room, my viewing distance is about 10 feet/3 meter.

of course 1st thing is to decide between OLED vs LED. At 65 inch, the cheapest OLED still cost 2x as much and since I seldom watch TV anyway i decided to go with LED.

Next up is which model. Was contemplating mid ranger, Samsung RU7400 vs Sony X80G, both around RM3.5K to RM4k. RU7400 is VA while X80G is IPS. The RU7400 is edge-lit while Sony claim X80G is direct lit (not sure what that means). The Sony does have 1 additional HDMI and it's Android TV but then I'm using Samsung phone.

Next, stumbled along the Pana GX800 in lowyat forum and the feedback was much better picture quality than the other. But it was 5K++ which puts it at the same range as Samsung Q60R QLED. And found out that the GX800 has an RM1K cheaper version called GX740. Did some further research and it seems like the only difference is that the GX740 is slightly less bright and slower refresh rate but still better than the RU7400 and X80G. And found a shop in Penang mainland that sells it at a really good price, RM4310 + free gift to be exact. So pulled the trigger right before MCO.

So glad i got the 65 inch before the MCO. It's a much more immersive experience. No complain about the picture quality at all. Brightness, contrast, darkness is all good. It supports HDR10+ too in terms of specs. Keep in mind i don't have a very discerning eyes.

The only complaints are:
- the UI is not very intuitive, took me quite a while before I figure out how to play content from USB
- the ports location are not user friendly at all for wall mount
- Panasonic user manual sucks.
- would be better if it has 4 HDMI. Would gladly trade 1 of the 3 USB ports for an additional HDMI port.

Other than that, no complaints. Waiting for my Yamaha sound bar to arrive next week.

4k even at super near already hard to see pixel. Not like 1080p whiclh very near can actually see. Depends on ur sitting position, for me i think 4k vs 1080p not as big diff as 480p to 1080p. I dont have blu ray to test la. Last time 1080p blu ray already very good. Only diff i can feel is 1080p can see artifacts, but 4k no artifacts.

any comments on the Philips TV?

65PUT7374

curios about their spec:

Picture enhancement
Micro Dimming Pro

not sure is this the local dimming, or just the marketing gimmick.
