Hi, can you please describe more about "1 step behind"? Are the quality of Sharp FL1X, Fk1X, and FJ1X all similarly a step behind the equivalent of LG, Samsung, Sony? Thanks.

Hi guys, would you recommend xiaomi tv a pro series?
I don’t really care much for the brand especially with my philips led panel failed after 1 year +

Also is the user interface for the built in android tv smooth enough? The ambient tv from philips tv feels even laggier than my first gen mibox

I put this post so that people can see what TVs that suppose to buy as at August 2024. I had & already own multiple brands for each room & area for each my houses.

For most people 55"-70" TV, already good enough. Basically term buy the biggest TVs that U can afford still true as normally big TVs normally have more features or flagship.

Chinese brand TVs like TCL, Xiaomi, Hisense, Skyworth have a lot features & value for money. U can buy the one with QLED, Dolby Vision, ALLM, HDR 10+, Dolby atmos etc about RM2k. However from my experience in past 5 years; some electronic failure will come in 2-5 years such as power board, backlight etc. U can ask any technician, normally electronic failure will come earlier for Chinese brand. Philips TVs also fail early.
It still true until now.

If want best picture quality; until now I can confirm that LG, Samsung & Sony are the best. Yes Chinese brand also using LG LCD (for an example) as not many company can manufacturer it by their own. But of course LG & Samsung will keep the best & the latest for their own TVs. However, between this brand for me; reliability of Sony is not really good. All 4 units of Sony that my family own broken in between 2-4 years. Yes, some new LG & Samsung also not reliable but depend on luck (it just not as fast as Sony). I do own 15 years old LG which still working but some new one also need to be repair like Sony.

The one which more reliable for me are Sharp, Toshiba or Panasonic. But normally the price is not cheap as Chinese brands which come with bells & whistles. But rarely this Japanese brand need to be repair. Maybe U can expect it to last 5-10 years. Price maybe higher bcoz they use more quality & reliable part. However picture quality surely behind LG, Samsung & Sony (basically 1 step behind). If u put it side by side, then u know. If put different room, it wont matter much.

The most basic spec for Sharp 65" (4TC4tc65fj1x) also about RM2.2k. Even Xiaomi A Pro 65" or basic TCL 65" are cheaper about RM500; it will come with Dolby Vision, HDR 10+ etc.. For RM2.2k-2.5k can already get QLED Chinese brand TVs (which basically come with a lot of features). Of course if money non issue, just buy high end OLED TVs

I guess there is no perfect TVs or brand. Depend what criteria u want.

Any recommendation if I want to find a 55'' TV below 4k?

Priority:
Reliable
Good picture quality
4K resolution
Dolby Vision
Good connectivity like ARC, HDMI 2.1

Not in priority:
Speaker quality
Smart TV functionalities
High refresh rate(good to have)

I'm not in a rush to buy one yet, just shortlisting only. Not sure Hisense good or not, but for reliability, Panasonic is a great option imo

I see. My tv is dying soon, flickers once in a while and goes black. Asked a few electrical shops, supposedly Merdeka sale next week have some discounts, wonder can cheaper by how much.

The MX800 is 2.5k while X80L is 3k, of course need to add-on warranty until 5 years.

Sorry late reply.

If u put U Sharp next to LG, Samsung & Sony (which basically LG/Samsung), U will realise that LG & Samsung colour a bit brighter (warna naik), black colour a bit darker.
Sharp basically not that bad especially model with chroma tech. FJ1X is not that good, it just a basic TV, for normal view is ok but for play 4k games or bright room, it will suffer.
If u didnt put Sharp next LG or Samsung, U wont notice at all.. To be frank, I like to play PS5 in Sharp compare to LG bcoz tak sakit mata for long hours.

For an example, Basically if U see majority Sharp TV in market just with HDR10 like FJ1X, basically it will not be as bright as model such as FK1x with Dolby Vision or LG TV with HDR Pro or Dolby Vision. Majority of LGs will come with HDR Pro instead of basic HDR10.

Here in ASEAN, Sharp TV actually made in Malaysia. Weird thing is when we export for this region, it come with 5 years warranty but just 2/3 years local warranty.
We make plastic part & chassis. But we import electronic components from Japan. That why u can see "made in Malaysia" label but with Japan panel label.
Maybe we the one who will export to Japan later, lower production cost, who know.. whistling.gif
Sharp is TV market leader in Japan. <5% market share belong to LG/Samsung.. I dont think they will give up easily..

Guys, upgrading from my 65” Samsung NU8000, something that can last for a bit maybe 4-5 years, should I go for the 65” LG C4?
