QUOTE(alucard89 @ Sep 19 2017, 11:34 PM) Really? Which shop did you buy it? Online. Mi Malaysia. Tried really hard wiping it with cloth and it went away. Guess it not a scratch after all. This one looks like number 2 https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=558528262800 But damn, I hope the casing is easy to find at a physical store. |

QUOTE(lleihuan @ Sep 20 2017, 08:51 AM) A quick day one summary. The telephoto camera can't be improved with software updates I think because of the high f-number at 2.6. the normal camera at f/2.2 also is pretty high compared to other high end phones of today. Which means in low light, there will be some noise.Mi A1 goals is trying to attract those who were staying away from the Xiaomi ecosystem (MIUI). Having stock Android over MIUI is definitely something that will makes it a very reliable smartphone. In low light(2X optical zoom) just too much noise. Hope can improve this with software updates. Other than this, good camera that is capable of taking great shots. Battery life is strong, but not the best in this price bracket. The back is a bit slippery, better buy some kind of skin or cover for this phone. The metal body and overall finish are superb and that makes it look premium. Side by side next with the iphone 7 plus, the build quality is almost as good. The display and overall performance are good. The fingerprint reader is located at the back, and it works very well. Expanded(max) using a Sandisk 128GB microSD card(as external) on the second SIM slot.Supported.No problem.(very good decision from Xiaomi) But you cannot install apps on SD card. AGAIN IT IS REALLY ABOUT THE SOFTWARE. The most important about this phone is Android Nougat without any skinning atop it. *This are for those using Nougat for the first time. Mi A1 is tall at 155.4 mm in length, comes handy when Nougat features on the device include split-screen multitasking that allows users to work on two apps simultaneously(By holding on the "recent apps")on the bottom left. Mi A1 isn’t groundbreaking, just worth the money. Its a steal. It is just being the “Pixel on a budget”. I think Mi A1 is probably the best looking smartphone Xiaomi has ever built in "this price segment". Phones like S7 and iPhone 7 have a lower f-number at 1.8 or something and that's why they can have more lights coming in in a low light conditions. Btw I just realized that Mi A1 telephoto lens have a better f-number (f/2.6) than iPhone 7 plus and iPhone 8 plus (f/2.8). Only the Note 8 and iPhone X have a lower f-number than Mi A1 at f/2.4. Quite impressive for a mid range phones. This post has been edited by lowyard: Sep 20 2017, 09:45 AM |

QUOTE(bakajiat @ Sep 26 2017, 08:35 AM) Casing is good. Protective. It's a clone of spigen branded one. But the volume and power button press is something that should be improved. With the casing on, you can't really feel the tactility of the button when pressed. It's very mild. |

Just tried setting up the mi remote function on my mom's mi A1. Wow very capable. Can control our 55" 4k Samsung TV, astro decoder, Panasonic air-cond, and wall mounted fan. Pretty impressive. Wish future Samsung phones would have this infrared blaster.
