I've been to one of the board gamers group. Pretty active but never want to join again because the organiser is very judgmental.

Sorry to say... when I go there that time, there was only one girl.

why?
im no longer run frequent anymore. nowadays i only join HM/FM for certain organiser.
for hiking i consider hike every weekend.

for hiking u can every weekend meet new kind of ppl. for me i'm introvert, so i prefer small group and dun like talk to big group of ppl.

I never join hiking meetup group before because i dun like big group and i dun wan to pay RM20

while you hiking u will meet other hiking group. offer to help or they will ask u to help them to take group photo especially at the peak and you also can request them to take group photos for you. if you use your phone take for them then get their number and send the pic to them via whatsapp. next time text & ask them to hike together.

at the peak u sure will take a lot nice view photos. post it on FB, some will astonish with the view and will ask u to bring him/her/them to go.

After a while your group will expand. once u became experience hiker got a lot beginner will find u to hike together.
most of the time i Google where to hike. if lazy to travel then i will hike at KL/Selangor area. prefer day hike only.

i never join them because many of them will ask small amount of guide fee to earn money. im not a beginner so i dun wan to pay fee to them.

I usually hike with few close friend. Sometimes at the peak I'll ask other hiker are they first timer & what other hill they hike before to start small conversation.

Sometimes when u get to know new hiking friend then they will invite u to go tgt. Then your kaki will expand.

It does happen.

Fell, lost, drowned etc. Don’t get too excited, keep a high safety margin, don’t take unnecessary risk, don’t underestimate Mother Nature. For juniors, try to go with seniors or a guide at least, learn the basic of safety & basic survival.

For instance now is the monsoon season, may wanna avoid waterfall hike temporarily. An innocent looking waterfall or stream can turn into a tsunami within minutes.

Only a bit experienced in Kanching Waterfall only 
I'm a waterfall hiker, not much of non-waterfall hikes like Tabur, Gasing etc.
