Hi all, first of all i know this is not a correct comparison (naked vs faired, 650cc vs 900cc) bike. But since both price at similar range, can help me to suggest? Going to upgrade soon (now using fz150i). Looking for 3 or 4 inline bike (dont ask for twin cylinder, i'll take ninja 650 abs or cb500 series instead haha)

Will use for weekend and daily commute occasionally (ikut mood sometimes use car to work). I dont mind seating position, but i like sportbike look and position more lol.

So in terms of sparepart availability, accesories, worth the money, maintenance and user experience, which one is good? Mind to share your experience? Thank you sifuuu

since u like sportbike y consider mt09? the difference is huge..

should consider xj6 instead used bike for ~2xk only..

got the inline4 sound, add the belly u get full fairing..

there is a lot aftermarket fairing kit for xj6 now..

Hehe if mt09 is far better and worth the money, i dont mind taking naked bike (how i wish mt09 got faired version lol).

Xj6 not bad 🤔 The F version nice, but quite outdated, sparepart easy to get?

New model has been launched in Malaysia. Looking at all the Youtube review, all have praised the MT09

CBR650f gets my vote.

MT-09's huge engine + puny fuel tank = useless for me, because I'm no Sunday hero - I ride the damn thing to work every day.

if u wana ride to work everyday an inline twin like a versys (3rd gen) or a cb500x makes more sense, economically.

I know, but I absolutely loathe the hollow sound that parallel twins make.

Ex MT-09 owner, spare parts available via Hong Leong Yamaha Sg. Buloh, sold it on 2016.
Now riding L2 Gsxr-600. FC is more less the same with city + highway riding in the weekend.
U gotta be sure whether you are more keen to ride fairing bike or naked bike, which one u love to look at. If u have no preference, my vote is no-doubt 2018 MT-09.

MT09 faired is the MT09 tracer no?
I think you need to open up Google Sheet or Excel and list down ALL the pros and cons (including weight, fuel consumption, after sales service, parts availability, known common problems, road tax and insurance renewal too) of each bike. I did this when I was deciding on either an MT09, ST675R or Z900.

The benefit is still there, for me at least. I ride an inline 4 every day to work.
+ no jam
+ no toll
+ fc is better than driving a car (MyVi). Of course la not better than inline 2 or kapcai.

both are naked, unless you referring to MT09 Tracer, which is more on sports touring yet, a bit better for daily commute as it is a tone down version of original MT09.

presuming your comparison with Tracer, it is a bit different in terms of short and longer ride experience. both are not sportbike riding position, both are more on upright peg riding position.

cb650f is 4 cylinder while Tracer is 3 cylinder.

Tracer seat is much wider than cb650f as it is made for longer distance. Overall dimension, Tracer bigger than cb650f.

Tracer bigger tank, bigger CC. If i'm not mistaken, the seat a little higher than cb650f.

Engine and Exhaust note on cb650f a lil bit better than tracer, if you a person that love character, cb650f will be the bike.

CB650F torquier than Tracer.

For city riding, I think CB a bit better while on longer and open road, Tracer definitely the one.

cb650f torque curve is lower than MT07 as shown in dyno,

and mt07 torque is way lower than mt09 which is same engine used on tracer....

yup it is.

but ridden both bike, i felt peak on throttle and that snappy on cb650f

quite linear tho on tracer.

but again, it is just my experience in short/test ride. not in longer usage

maybe u should try the A mode instead... on the tracer..

tracer weight is just 1kg lighter than cb650f @ full tank..

but have 20 lbft more torque than the cb...

I think everything ori parts will cost a bomb. The real price only dealer, aka the bike shop owner, will know so have a close relationship with them and the damage when needed is very minimal but even that, is within ribu ribu ringgit. I had my share fixing my bike out of minor accident and it's worth half of my paycheck. If you dont have an extra income to back your hobby then you're in for a nightmare. Not trying to be an assho but in reality most of us bayar dengan air mata dan darah for this riding obsession, be it mild or chronic stage.

True. Agree.
That's why I cannot decide .. Because mt09 3cp is nice also plus many features such as TCS, abs, ride mode, QS, SLipper clutch, etc.

z900 and mt09 reviews u see from malaysians are very biased towards personal opinions lah

i personally have test both mt09 and z900 for a 300km ride (from friends), before i paid for my z900. I cannot understand why the hell anyone will buy a mt09 apart from it's a budget z900 - i much rather spend a little more to get a refined machine as compared to a cheaply(feels la) built bike with a sitting position that is so straight it looks freaking awkward(yes, when buying a bike - GAYA matters. Alot), that is forcing most power at lower revrange (stupid also, i ain't buying a car duh, i WANT TO REV IT).

On the other hand, my friend who owns mt09 also tested z900 and STILL choose mt09. So, as you can see, some choose z9, some choose mt09 due to personal preference. Tho all international bike reviews/comparison choosen z900 as the winner.

Eh didnt you have vulcan s already? Z900 becareful about the rear absorber mount. The early version was weak and failed. There was a recall and sort of fixed but heads up.

The mt09 handle bar is like a scrambler one so according to this one owner he prefered that for more room to twist compared to z900.

For me either one is fine lah. Beli jer. Oh, no traction control with z9.

I used to had a CBR650F.
Cool bike and I think power is good enough. Only downside is no ABS for Malaysia.
Other than that, fuel, maintenance, daily commute, touring is nice.

Salam sifu all...
May i ask, if d shop gives a free voucher of RM 3k for any products for an MT 09, helmet, jacket, exhaust, slider bar, windshield etc. Or if one doesnt want to take those accessories, they can choose to cash it out but will only get RM 2k.
Which is better? Pls advise sifu all. TQTQ
