there are Value RAMs and Apple Tested RAMs
to be secure, get Apple Tested RAMs but of course they are more expensive than the Value RAMs
Value RAMs might have problems with Apple's motherboard which some of the members complained that it has frequent reboot and won't switch on normally.
Upgrading the RAMs by yourself is valid for warranty and it won't void the warranty of your Macs

QUOTE(goliath @ Apr 11 2007, 03:17 PM) Could I get these Apple Tested RAMs from ordinary computer shop? How could I differentiate between these and Value RAMs? yes you can a 1GB Apple Tested RAM will cost you about RM400 while Value RAM only cost you around RM190 KVR stands for Value RAM while KTA stands for Apple tested RAM you can look at the box of the RAM

QUOTE(dinodog_Jr @ Apr 11 2007, 10:47 PM) thx alot, Hellojeffo & babyk input bout the RAM. RM400 for one 1GB apple tested ram is much cheaper than paying RM800 for 1 GB ram in Apple center. So, best is to get Apple certified RAM & install can get rid off Weird reboot situation. Any shop in KL selling Apple certified RAM? I mean the best price. Best if they can install for us wif little installment fees instead of relying APple center wif overpricey service. Apple Centres are selling 1GB @ RM400 while computer stores selling them around RM350-380 for KTA
