swanchew is referring to the SA ....
Ya I mean that Dell sales rep is really stupid not you. I believe the sales rep didn't clearly explain to you how the procedure and instruction how to do payment in cheque. As previously if I not mistaken the sales rep will let you know when the time they will come and collect it from you and will confirm with you whether the cheque been received or not.

P/S:Sorry for the misunderstanding that I didn't write clearly. (I will shot myself for the misunderstanding. mega_shok.gif ) doh.gif

Adding this to let you all know what I did previously ....I just change my laptop LCD due to light leakage and yellowish for using it less than 2 mth. Last friday they sent me outsource engineer to change it for me.Unfortunately the new LCD got dead pixel and I able to see the tiny square pixel on the screen. So I go through online chat with the tech support again to request to change LCD again. Today they come to change the LCD again. This 3rd new LCD was awesome!! The yellowish is nearly gone !! Still got a bit if compare to desktop monitor but can adjust through adobe gamma/color management. tongue.gif Besides that, the LCD view angle become wider also. What a wonderful experience support by Dell. rclxms.gif

P/S:This time they bring 3 outsource engineer to check whether I go problem on my LCD. doh.gif

You can change the power option at the control panel:

If you just want the LCD display to turn off while the system continue running, set this 1 minutes on turn off display. After 1 minutes it will turn off the LCD display and everything on your system still continue running:

Another way to turn off just the LCD display by closing the LCD display lid, set this:

me too ,but is costly ~~~
my insipiron 8600 , wanna buy another 2 years C&C cost Rm 1k

what you guys think ? should or should not ?
*
Well, it depend whether you think is worth it or not. If you are a clumsy person who always drop your laptop or accidentially hit the laptop here and there then I prefer you to get the extend warranty. Else, is it not necessary to extend the warranty. It is recommended to extend the warranty to 3yr on the 1st time purchase. If your laptop already over 3yrs, you might think of buying a new laptop rather than extending the warranty.

Main expensive cost of laptop is LCD screen, motherboard and the processor where we can't really able to buy it from the normal computer shop. So anything happen on this 3 part, you normally need to call the dell to replace it with charges.

The rest of the laptop part able to get from computer shop either replace it as internal/external/portable.

hi .... also a 6400 user here

well got it during CNY when vista juz launced that week...
havent face any probem yet just i recently bought a 4-port usb hub coz i realize its not enough ... i plug in to the usb port, it can install but with "unknown device"...
its a generic usb hub, and most computer can auto detect, but i tried with two 6400 dell, both recognise the hub as unknown device.. may i know how to solve it? i'm using vista home premium,
*
Go to device manager, right click on the USB unknown and uninstall it. Then scan the device manager again. If still can't recognise, you need to download the Dell system notebook driver. Hope this helps.

tried flashing it again? i haven't tried it out yet. still on A12. anyone else have tried it?

I flash my system from A12 > A14 > A17. If can't flash from A12 to A17. Try get the older version A14. Then flash A12 to A14 then A17. Hope this helps. smile.gif

If still cannot, you know you always pick the call and start dialing Dell technical support to service you. brows.gif

*
In order to install dell media direct, you need to unpartition part of your hard disk around 1.5gb or 2gb. Then use the dell media direct cd to install it. You can use partition magic 8.0. to delete partition and make it unpartition or unformated...

Which means you need to install cyberlink application into your system. You can download direct from Dell website. http://supportapj.dell.com/support/topics/...pup&file=210212

Hi guys. I own a 6400 with the X1400 card. I was just wondering whether anyone can recommend a good driver for this card because the one from Dell is outdated already.
*
You can use this tool to upgrade your latest ATI driver. Please read the instruction carefully before you install it. Works both XP and Vista.

Oh sorry here http://www.download.com/3000-2139_4-10533000.html <<Trial version only

If you brought your system from dell, they will provide the cyberlink CD for you also. If you do not have the CD, maybe you can call technical support to burn one for you. whistling.gif

i'm not sure but i'm on 1280x800 on my lappy now & tried running on same resolution on a LCD projector but failed. the sides are cropped & screen not able to project fully. it only chose to run on 800x600.

p/s : guys..planning to install/dual-boot Vista on my lappy. do i need to download latest drivers for Vista from Dell after i've installed it or continue using those originally given? will some be incompatible?  blink.gif
*
Recommended to get the latest driver.Updating your latest driver such as wifi is worth because you will get a wider range of wireless signal.
You still can use the older driver if you are too lazy to download. tongue.gif

@popiah04 : currently is the best webcam i ever used so far. very sharp&crisp image. not sure about other brands like Logitech tho. bought it around RM175 @ last year's August PC Fair. smile.gif

@swanchew : means some old drivers are Vista-compatible?
*
Yes is compatible but not stable especially the ATI driver from Dell. So I recommended you to get the latest driver. I been using dual boot for sometimes.I prefer xp rather than vista due to the blurriest text make my eyes tired. smile.gif

Here the dell driver download link:
