Help..... I just brought a ASUS RT-AC86U 2days ago from Lazada. But it’s China set. I’ve tried many times with my both Unifi & Maxis Fibre account just can’t connect to Internet.
Any Sifu can help????

Have you selected the correct ISP? Go to LAN-IPTV and select unifi-home if you're using unifi. With this setting, LAN4 will be used for IPTV.

Need help....

My 86u is not broadcasting 5ghz network.

I have reset, reboot, reflashed to no avail.

The 5ghz light is still on, MAC address is available, disabled the 2.4ghz network, but using my phone or laptop, I am just unable to see the 5ghz network.

Mine is a China unit from TB, I have also changed region settings to Asia and Singapore to no avail.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you try setting the 5GHz to Channel 36 or 161 manually, and seeing if that makes a a difference?

i think i know why my previous router died (this one is a new one. RMA unit by the seller)

the same symptom happened again. my iphone can't connect to the 5ghz. before it can't detect the signal, my iphone says "incorrect password". quickly turned on my pc and tried to log into my router, but couldn't. it just didn't load. had to turn off my router for a bit and let it cool down. after that it works normally again

this time i babied the router. bought a mini fan just for it. only 1-2 devices are connected to the 5ghz at one time and the temps for cpu and 5ghz are always 60C below. so the sudden high temp was a shock. so now i'm worried what should i do now

note : i turn off 2.4ghz because i didn't need to use it because my condo is small. i thought i could save power, heat, etc by turning it off

Correcto mundo..then get tack-it/blutack or something similar to stick them on the router.

This is a cheaper & branded alternative other than the ones being sold specifically for routers.

Regardless of any fan that u get, just reverse the fan side and it will do the opposite.

Ok but is blowing or sucking better to dissipate heat?

There's always two schools of thought on this..it's the same argument in this forum or even on google. i.e. dust gets into router, not enough air circulation, etc.

Personally I'm blowing IN.

Check out the other thread on Networks & Broadband to survey how others in here setup their fans.

Thanks sweat.gif

But logically I would blow in too as I don't want the dust to settle inside the router. Dunno sucking out will be able to keep the dust out or not.

Hi All,

I just bought Ac86U to use with UNIFI 500mbps booster package .

what is the normal speed I should get for 2.4g and 5g in close distance ?

e.g I clock at 2.4g with 60mbps download and 67mbps upload . 5gz with 197mbps download and 112mbps upload

Don't expect any miracles on 2.4GHz
For 5GHz, set the channel bandwidth to 80MHz

But in order to get 500Mb/s on WiFi, your device itself must support Wireless AC 866Mb/s. If it doesn't, then you buy the ASUS GT-AC5300 also won't help
