Mind to share the feature that Merlin offer and how was it perform over the official firmware in term of stability ?
Official firmware is stable. No need to install Merlin unless it is needed. For example, OpenVPN is not working on official one (wasted lot of time on this previously). DLNA issue that I faced. Or you need to customize stuffs that not supported on official one. And so on...
It has several regions to select. I select Asia now. As for firmware, just install official firmware from Asus website will do. Or Merlin that I am using now.
Just got it. The max speed so far is slower than the asus66u via LAN. this is at default settings. Will go through the menu a bit more later to optimize it.
I'm getting 30-40% my Max download speed while the asus 66u can achieve 70-80% that speed.
Wifi Range is definitely better though.
Hmm... LAN speed should be the same if not better. I am getting 960 Mbit/s locally.
Been reading this thread from where most of the issues started. Kind of torn between local units or china unit, is the problem "resolved" now or ongoing.
Are you a risk taker? If yes, go for China set. Else pay higher for 3 years local warranty.
What is the issue for the router ? so far i see someone complain about the 5ghz dropping only.... heat issue is depend on ur usage only can share others ah ? RM600 vs RM900 i think worth to take risk
Just like other electronic product. Anything can go wrong. Or nothing. Totally depend on your luck.
1) for wifi 5G, max speed I can get is only ~200mbps. I even run the test near to router to reduce the interference, but the speed result is just the same. is there is any way to improve the wifi speed?
Which wireless device are you using? Result is normal for 1x1 device. 2x2 can get around 330mbps for my case - Galaxy Note8 and OnePlus 5T. 3x3 even more. And of course 4x4 is the best.
I dont know how to check whether my devices support either 1x1, 2x2, or 3x3. Can you share how to check eh? btw, I run the test from different devices (Laptop with Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165; Xiaomi Mi A1, Ipad pro and Ipad Wifi, AFTV3. All give the same speed)
Not hard to know. Just check the maximum connected speed on your mobile device when just beside router. 433mbps for 1x1. 866mbps for 2x2. And so on...
hi guys, my wifi doesnt seem to hit 400Mbps mark. i am on 800Mbps package. is there any tuning can be done to this router. i can easily get 800Mbps-1Gbps on wired.
