I'm connecting to 5Ghz to my iphone. Basically I need to know what is the recommended settings in Wireless so that I can get the optimal performance.
One thing I notice, with Asus firmware, I can't find the Tx Power while Merlin has.

I always confuse on 2.4ghz and 5ghz wireless setting such as channel width (20, 40, 80). Please share out your wireless setting.

I did not try Merlin firmware on AC86U yet. Not sure it has Tx Power setting or not. But based on Merlin himself, his firmware does not improve wireless range. So same as stock.

I did not change any wireless settings. Just let it as stock.

finally got my ASUS RT-AC86U from tmall at RMB860 which is approximate RM533

anyone here can share all settings need to set in wireless.. i got the high ping responses as compare to my previous RT-N66U

I just paid as usual payment made to other stuff in Tmall. Once it reach warehouse, I just paid again for the shipping fee to Malaysia.

I tried getting it from Taobao but they do not ship outside China. I do not know how much shipping and using an agent is so net I probably paid about RM 150 more getting it from Gearbest.

Can anyone walk me through how to set it up for use with TM Unifi? What do I need to note down from the TM router settings?

Anyone know if the ac86u usb 3.0 perform better than the one on the ac88u when attached to external drive as a nas.. read in some reviews that the performance is not so good for ac88u.. thanks

Of course, I am running QOS, AIprotection, Google DNS and WTF gaming mode. That could be the reason. And I also notice that the Internet LED does become white after the upgrade - probably Merlin has corrected this issue.


IPV6 and Aiprotection - both running well under Merlin.

Still need time to play with it so that I can explore the whole potential of this router. I am speaking from my experience and I am very noob in this.

I think it is all automatic.

I am using adaptive QoS with automatic setiing and customise it. I have set mine with web surfing on top whilst File Transferring at the bottom. You should do yours accordingly.

IPV6 is on native and I am using googe DNS:-

2001:4860:4860::8888

2001:4860:4860::8844

Do you mean 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4  for the Google DNS?

Also, when I enabled IPv6, my computer says I am joined to 2 networks at the same time. Is this normal?
