So My friend has just received SMS from TM which he will receive an free upgrade from his current package which is UniFi Lite 10Mbps (RM129 without GST) to 30Mbps for free. Is TM trying to fool us 30Mbps users which already paid Rm179/RM199 per month? Anyone can confirm this?

Don't complain please. The situation is still not clear till October to year end.
We will get free upgrade to 30Mbps, but it doesn't mean we will get something equal to Unifi Adv 30 including HyppTV STB, free calls, same upload speed etc.
For existing 30Mbps users, I believe they will get upgrade to the next level as well.
I assume it is a pilot run for 2nd round of speed upgrade, as reported in Budget 2017. Then all the residential Unifi customers nationwide will get 2nd round of speed upgrade and price cut by 2019.
From the beginning, it could be an indirect subsidy from Sarawak Government as part of the backbone in the state is owned and funded by Sacofa (state owned) instead of Telekom Malaysia / Federal Government. Also, The Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) will be set up soon to regulate the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure, I am not surprised alternative Internet Service Provider will appear soon to compete with TM.

no harm lettig them do the free upgrade lo~ just check next bill got increase price or not~ if increase price then complain and show them this proof as u get the upgrade for free

i think 30M got free upgrade to 50M.. so it's a fair deal RM 179 - 50mb, rm 129 - 30mb

but my subb area cant have free upgrade unifi lite to 30 !!!

Still a lot of areas not covered by UniFi in Sarawak.

Cis.....by right. RM179 30mbps should get free upgrade to 60Mbps instead of 50mbps.

Is it Unifi VIP10 upgrade to 30Mbps?

We are not sure we will get upgrade to Unifi Adv 30 (RM179) which includes HyppTV STB, Upload 10Mbps.
Maybe we will get Unifi Lite 30 without HyppTV STB.
For those Unifi Adv 30 (RM179/199) users activated before 28/2/17, they had been / are going to be upgraded to 50Mbps. So not really a lot of users paying RM179 for 30Mbps.
Wait and see till October when someone really get upgrade from Unifi Lite 10 to 30Mbps.

No. Some selected (not all) Kuching and Miri Unifi Lite (10Mbps) customers will get free upgrade to 30Mbps (which may not equal to Unifi Adv30) by October 2017.

was vip 5 but got upgraded to vip 10.

then now see unifi lite 10 soon to be way better than vip 10.

Not all the Unifi Lite users here receive the free upgrade sms in the past few days. so it is not exclusive yet but selected few.

Don't confuse. There are 2 round of speed upgrade as per Budget 2017.
VIP5 to Unifi Lite 10 is the first round happening in 2016-17
The second round will happen within 2 years (before 2019) from first round.

for me, im waiting to see if they will fullfill the "reduce fee by 50%" promise.

Hypptv = RM30
unifi = RM149

-.-.......I worry TM suddenly spins the story and TM only discounts RM149 INSTEAD of total RM179.


149/2 = 74.5
rm74.5 + rm 30 = RM104.5


If RM179/2 = RM89.5

Definitely they will retain the HyppTv subscription of RM30.
They will only reduce the Internet pricing.

Not only this...
Positive - tax allowance up to RM2500 per annum.
Negative - Increase in GST rate after PRU14, or propose MCMC tax.

I am more worried about TM pulling off a ridiculous low data quota and throttling crap.

I could understand if they do it to wireless webe, but doing it for fiber connection is a big no-no.
