Bought some steaks at Jaya Grocer from The Garden. Decided my first attempt in pan searing steak. Surprisingly it turned out nice and delicious.

May I know where else can I get nice steaks for own consumption? I'm looking for dry aged beef. Many pointed to Las Vacas.

The best place to get beef is from wholesalers.  I use pok brothers, you can buy whole joints a few Kgs at a time.  Just google search for them - they have 2 locations in the Klang Valley.  Last year I got 3.1kg cuberoll/ribeye for about RM225.  And I also picked up wagyu striploin (between 3-4kg) for less than rm800.

I don't know about buying dry aged steaks because its damned time consuming and unless the butcher is moving enough volume, he's going to waste a lot of meat selling them as individual steaks.  So if you're buying whole joints, then you might want to try dry aging your own beef.  Just need to clear some space out in a fridge.

Thanks. Will get whole joint from them.

don't think you can find any dry aged beef off the shelf in Malaysia. unless you got special contacts with the suppliers.
even wet aged is rare. but still possible

Had my favourite aged beef at San Francisco Steakhouse in KLCC but they removed it from menu shortly after before closing down. Been hunting around for it ever since, last dining place was BEATO (Publika), their steak lacks flavour, suspect they used wet aged instead since displayed in vacuum packs.

After few disappointed trips, decided to prep my own steak. DIY dry aging takes too much work, humidity/Temp control is crucial. Have to go with Supermarket or Pok Brothers for now.

Dry aged bone-in ribeye is available from w-mart, sg besi.

recently, grain fed ribeye price is over $120/kg, wahyu eye round is $100/kg, price has increased fair amount. if one know how to cook, eye round texture could become tenderloin like.

those take steak with sauce, whether the steak was grain fed, grass fed, frozen or chill would hardly made any different.

Thanks for sharing, I'll make a trip to WMART tomorrow, saw their FB page, seems to carry good selection of beef.

Usually marinate my steak with good amount of sea salt and black pepper, never like them with sauce.

Thanks icemanfx for recommending Wmart. Just got back from there. Bought a slab of striploin weighing around 3.5kg at RM488.00 and 2 pieces of aged steaks (2 months old aging)

Will definitely go back again. Loved their cuts selection, wide variety to choose from. Never expect them to carry aged beef, what a pleasant surprised.
