I'd suggest you get a fixed screen if possible coz manual screen will eventually warp and become unusable. or you can DIY your screen.

ben, in-wall wiring is neat. There's a lot of bare walls and floors bouncing your sound around.

Do you find the black strip behind your TV distracting?

To reduce your echo due to clapping test (mid to high frequencies) you need to cover the sidewall corners and ceiling as well. The corners are more for controlling bass.

My HT room setup with my DIY acoustic panels made from rockwool.

Respect, respect, respect.  Can you still hear any echo after the acoustic treatment?

How you hang the trap at the middle ceiling corner and ceiling?

I used to have a bright room but found too much light reflection.  Now, painted with darker color.  Got more cinema feeling  rclxms.gif   You may want to try it.

No more echo after treatment. The foam is stapled to plaster ceiling; need to use carpentry stapler which can be bought from hardware shop.

For ceiling and sidewall, need to drill a hook on wall and small L-shape support at the bottom of the trap. It's something like hanging a picture but you push up against the ceiling with support at the base.

My next project will be to build more false traps for the walls to hide the tiles so its all black throughout and paint the remainder walls darker. (previously kitchen smile.gif)

Also, planning to build a simple diffusor at the back wall and maybe some floor lights.

ycs,

nice room you have and kudos for your acoustic efforts. So your panels are rockwool wrapped in black fabric right?
*
The panels were made by making a wooden frame ( 2' x 4' x 2" and 1' x 4' x 4") into which the rockwool was placed and first wrapped with a thin PU foam so that the rockwool cannot escape since its rather itchy. Then its finished off with a black acoustically transparent cloth so that not too much sound is reflected.

I used 40kg/m3 rockwool in the 2' x 4' x 2" panels on the sidewalls and 60 kg/m3 rockwool in the 1' x 4' x 4" panels in the corners as bass traps.

Just came back from Homedec Penang. Saw some acoustic foam which is quite cheap. RM70 per pack with 4 pcs of 60x60 cm foam. See website below : http://www.m-pe.com/En_02_products_M_Sorb.html
