Thanks saintos for that extremely detailed explaination abt bipolar, dipolar spkrs, those s60 sure cost a lot though..the area where my av set-up is located is 12' x 30' but since its a living plus dining area, my av set up actual area is abt 12' x 15' with the spkrs shooting across the shorter width of the room. So i dont think bi-polar spkrs can work in my system but i will try and borrow a pair from my friendly hi-fi dealer for a test soon. BTW any one knows the ideal room size for a.v. ?
*
No prob bro...

and i think for your dining area,Dipole speakers is very very suitable..dont get the bipole from your dealer try and get dipole speakers instead...i think you are very much gonna like it

and to answer your question about the right setup for av room,

any room with rectangle layout is suitable for an av room..

as for my room is square, thats not quite the right one, thats why im planning to make it bigger and rectangle...square rooms makes low frequency sound too much...

Ideal size? As big as you can make it! tongue.gif

Seriously though, it's more about the proportion between the width, height and depth. As saintos mentioned, a square room isn't ideal. Some suggested proportions from another website:

1 : 1.14 : 1.39
1 : 1.28 : 1.54
1 : 1.6 : 2.33
H : W : D

I don't think you have to follow that exactly though.

Another factor is how big a screen do you want? Remember that one of the recommendations is to sit 1.5x - 2x the width of the screen. So if you have a 92" diagonal screen (which is 80" wide) then you need to sit between 120" - 160" away from it and this will determine how long a room you need.

My room isn't ideal too, being too long.

10' (W) x 20' (D) x 8' (H). Still trying to improve acoustic treatment.

its a little too long, against the width, twice its size. but if you are just merely watching movies, i think it is ok, i have seen many designs on magazine and also internet, most of the design are long, acoustic treatment is important, then again, in watching a movie is different from listening to stereo.

stereo requires a more strict sound staging. as we are all aware, watching movies is more of a kick and punch rather then having great sound stage,

but of course some of us do listen to stereo, in the same setup, thats where room size is important.

Yup... yup... Mezzo6 and Mezzo 5. Before this I was using JBL 5.1 Home System. Arrghhh.... about audition, I kinda tone deaf. Cannot differentiate it much. Ha! Ha! Ha! laugh.gif laugh.gif
But I didn't like PSB... The rest were too expensive. I only tried Mezzo 2 and it was kinda easy going for music... So, I buy Mezzo 6 lo.
And for the Mezzo 5, well, I put it on the floor as my TV cabinet not done yet.
