QUOTE(Virlution @ Aug 20 2017, 07:14 PM) If source is DTs Of course straight for 5.1 dts. The name stereo already tells you it is for 2 channel stereo source, but replicated to the other extra speakers. DSP/Surround program use 5ch Stereo or Straight Sometimes got Sur. Decode option. I usually will use this if got this option The other Dsp surround options just fake processing. But if you like them, who am I to stop you. |

So straight is the best option. The other Dsp surround options just fake processing. But if you like them, who am I to stop you. Got it. I was not sure if straight means let the audio play as per the movie, or just play at all channels regardless. |

So if i play a 2ch audio movie, what options?
If based on straight, then it will only play 2 channel. So in this case i should select DSP fake processing? |

QUOTE(Virlution @ Aug 20 2017, 10:29 PM) So if i play a 2ch audio movie, what options? If you want your 2 ch content to be matrixed to all your connected channels, then choose whatever DSP sounds best to you. Unfortunately, no one can tell you which is best because the DSP is calibrated based on YPAO's filters - which is set accordingly to your room only when you calibrate your system. If based on straight, then it will only play 2 channel. So in this case i should select DSP fake processing? The other option is just to use "7, 9-channel or 11-channel" stereo. This is not a DSP, the receiver basically just plays the exact same signal on all your speakers. This is otherwise colloquialy known as "party mode". |

QUOTE(Virlution @ Aug 21 2017, 11:08 AM) I reckon fake processing should be better then just stereo 2 channel... I assume hat tthe sub be working as well when on the 2 channel depends on what u r playing.usually, for movie, using PLII or Neo DTS for AAC2.0 or DD2.0 is better since u want center vocals for dialogue. for pure audio, music, keeping direct 2.0 may be better. |
