For those using 7 speed gearset, there's not much improvements can be made without spending more than the bike itself. As you know most with 7 speed gears are entry level bikes, the price was low because of the obsolete components. The difference is usually the hubs which can only use freewheel cogs, where the freewheel ( the movement of the cogs which engaged one way but free when turn the other way, so your foot can stay on the pedals when you stop pedaling instead of following the turns like a fixie ). Freewheel cogs have the freewheel mechanism on the cog cluster itself where else the common one nowadays have freewheel hubs, where the freewheel mechanism is on the hubs and the cog cluster are on their own called a cassette in this case.

So, for the 7 speed ones, here's another option to add more oommph! Can't seem to tackle the slope, here's a picture of the freewheel cog that is brought in by a LBS in Teluk Intan. It's a 13T to 34T cluster, 8 speed. That's one click more for low gear and 2 clicks more for high gear. Usual 7 speed is 14T to 28T only. I have seen 11T to 30T clusters before made by Epogue but they are quite costly.

This is the cheapest option actually, just buy this and screw onto the wheel set ( no need to change ) and then get an 8 speed shifter. As for rear derailleur, I am sure it can handle another higher gear, most lower levels are long cage anyway. You can hunt for an 8 speed right hand side shifter easily in BBS (usually those twist shifters) or buying a pair of new trigger shifters is about 80 bucks anyway, plus another 110 bucks, you can get 3 extra gears onto your 7 speed.

I have a single speed 14" folding bike, thinking of getting another one, due to limited of car cargo space (max two bikes only),  i am considering a basic 16" folding bike (20" is too big, can't put two bikes), plan to ride both bikes around taman area or parks.

I will try to fit the 20" together with 14" into the car cargo space, before I buy the 16" bike. Likely I will opted for the 16" TRS VOLGA (seller in klang valley), due to the XDS 16" fa20 seller is in Penang.

any recommendation on child seat that can be used on an XDS FA-20?

Ya, I think the XDS fa-20 looks nicer. But I can't find it selling (advertise online) around Klang Valley. Found seller from Penang. Thus, i pick 2nd choice, TRS Volga.
16" bike can add child seat? Will it be too small for an additional child seat?

Im using 52/36 on my rb and confortable with it but friends saying on foldie, due to smaller wheels, it will be lighter if the same gear ratio. Is that true?

8inch roda??  tamau la.. too damn small... will trip or get stuck over small holes...

the challenge for inventors is to create best folding 16in-20in wheels... 

Brompton clone not super expensive, I bought one for under 1k~ just has to wait for them to appear in ads. Or you can get a 10" or 8", some of them can go into a regular backpack or recycle shopping bag.

i traveled last week to spain with my 412, perfect size and weight 7.5kg all in. fits into luggage by taking out seatpost too..

I plan to take some time off work and travel in SEA for a few months. Plan is to stay in one town for a week or so and move on to another. Thinking of taking a folding bike with me to move around within the town and nearby areas. Not town to town . For that I will take bus or train. Looking for suggestions for a small, light and sturdy bike, preferably comes with a bag (not a must). Budget about RM5k, but can be stretched with a compelling reason.
