I believe that the best cycling insurance is Sports Personal Accident Insurance Policy from MSIG.
I took Plan A with RM50K cover with annual premium of RM90. You will get 25% for walk-in. It covers all sports except vehicle racing, boxing or wrestling. Some of sports covered arr cycling, scuba diving, caving, parasailing, bungee jumping, etc.

Max RM2K for loss or damage to sports equipment but limited to RM1K per article, pair or set.

I have been transporting my 26" folding bike with diy bicycle box. I get a normal bicycle box and take out the metal staples. Then shape up the new dimensions and cut off the excess parts. Staple back the box.

Before boarding skybus from 1 utama to KLIA2. Usually I box up my bike in airport.

Bought a bicycle box from a bicycle shop in Bangkok and shaped a box for my 26" folding bike.

Please do not deflate your tires when you box up. One time I deflated my tires in Mandalay airport, Myammar, my rear wheel warped. I think that the airport luggage porter must have dropped my bike from higher height.

I only heard that Japan airport officers will request you to open your box to make sure your tires are deflated.

I am 60 yrs old. I have done numerous bike tours for last 7 yrs. I have been to Myammar, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand.

I did research and proper planning before each trip.

1. I chart routes, prefer kampong roads. 50 to 80km each day for folding bike touring. If you seek other experts advice, usually mentioned around 80km. Usually I wake up at 530am. By 6am, breakfast at stall near wet market. By 12 noon or 1pm, usually arrive at the next town. Check in hotel, lunch and rest until 3 or 4pm. Explore town. Bedtime around 11pm. If it is 14 day trip, then 1 or 2 days are non cycling day.

2. If my arrival and departure from the same airport, then I will leave my box in the hotel. If not, I will get another box from my point of departure.

3. I always have plan A, plan B and plan C for back up for missing flight, train, ferry and bus. Even have back up plan for accommodation.

4. To me, 7 days to 14 days tour are best. Once I did 25 days, after sometime you could not remember which town you are in when you wake up in the morning.

Happy touring. Travel light.

If you read journals or blogs of those round the world cyclists, they alwsys avoid cycli g between 12 noon to 2pm which considered hottest period of the day. They also rest a day or so for body to recover.

I got a quotation for electric front hub conversion kit for RM1,550 on my folding bike.

1. 350Watt 48V Brushless Motor x 1pc
2. 48V 10AH Litium Battery x 1pc
3. 350Watt Controller x 1pc
4. Thumb throttle x 1 pc
5. Power Off Brake x 1 pair
6. 26" Rim x 1pc

1) geared or direct drive, direct drive  try to avoid at this power rating
2) Battery cell type, chemistry and manufacturer?

What is your weight?
What do you intend to use it for? Hills,? Grocery trips? circumnavigation? Whatever?
What speed, range, you expecting?

But if you have spare cash, just close eye and hantam only la, I did just that~

I just converted my bike to electric bike. When I pedal, my cateye magnetic sensor picks up the speed reading but when press the thumb throttle, no reading on cateye computer.

Could it be the electric front hub is the cause?

My friend had a blow out on his Schwalbe Marathon Racer few weeks ago near Sekinchan. The tube had an inch cut and the tire had 1.5 inch cut. He replaced the tube and managed to sew and patch the tire. We cycled 25km back to our cars.
