for nice road condition, tern and dahon 20" and above should be not a problem for 120kg…but way much over his budget.

if u want buy from taobao then just use 3rd party freight forwarder…choose sea shipping for sensitive item.

maybe things like rear derailleur and hanger come broken then u can replace it here.

Hmm now I think I'll just order from Lazada local seller, not worth the hassle if anything goes wrong during the delivery.

My other option would be DIY a mid drive motor on a folding bike but I'm not sure if that will affect the foldability or not.

Ordered Fiido DS4 directly from Shenzen factory.. using 3rd party forwarder.. 3 weeks arrived in KL no issues..

Cheaper than local shop, but if you want to have peace of mind get from local distributor, at least got warranty..

However nowadays many electric scooter/bicycle repair shops available in MY, the science behind it is the same.. battery, motor, controller and such.. so not really an elephant in the room anymore..

Thanks for sharing your experience, may I know how much did you pay for the bike and shipping? Fiido seems nice but most are out of stock on Taobao apparenly. Also how's the hybrid hydraulic compared to the stock mechanical brake? I've seen some on Shopee before but I don't know how well it performs just yet.

I went direct to the factory, after scrolling through heaps of chinese website finally got the contacts, Payed less than 2k in total for the bike and the shipping fees...

now aiming for FiiDo M1 Pro. seems nice..

The Hybrid disc so far ok, reduced the squawking sound that produce by the mechanical brake caliper due to need to adjust every now and then..

Braking power is almost similar not major improvement, as you can lock the tyres easily with both brakes. However it added extra weight if you really into the lightweight...

Bought a Brompton and went for a ride yesterday, back and forth about 10km+ , everything is fine except the saddle feel discomfort and testicles feeling sore although it subside after one night but wondering what kind of saddle you guys are using and any tips to make the saddle even comfortable?

From what I heard you need to have saddle time for about week to 1 month in order to shape it to your butt... then you will get the comfort out of the B17

Yes this one, or you need to very rajin to clean and put leather balm/polish to guard it .. after all its an organic material..

i bought a few bikes from taobao using official taobao shipping so far.. java aria(sold it after halfday of using it), sava z1, a few carbon minivelo for friends. so far no issue with customs. it arrived within the stipulated time without any hiccup. but for e-bike i'm not sure.

(terms call for ur saddle to fit acording ur butt shape)

just ride in rain about 1 hour to make ur saddle wet, later the leather will breakin. after the ride, just dry ur saddle and wax with profide oil.
