After the 1st ride with new saddle, I can say no rubbing or chaffing on my hind thighs occurred.

The power arc nose is shorter than my former Toupe sport saddle.

Size still the same 143mm. Lol. My butt still the same size not far ass. Lol

Lets see further rides how.

Since it's a short saddle, do you have any issues with the rails as well?
Or the rails is sufficient as like your previous Toupe?

The nose section is shorter only but the rails are the same length (I think). The position of the new saddle still remain the same as the old one. No need adjustment to move it front or back for my case.

Ahh... I see.
Do you need to adjust the tilt or anything for your new short nose saddle?

Since both saddles are made by the same company I guess the rails are compatible. The saddle fitting was done by the Lbs bike technician. He said no change in position.
Nope, no need tilt adjustment . Just level I think from naked eyes.
If subsequent rides, if I don't feel comfy ill go back LBS to seek their assistance.

Hi All,

Newbie here. I got this Java Ira after reading some recommendation from this long forum sweat.gif I am using it mainly for exercise purpose. Have a few questions and appreciate it if all the experts can advice me.

1. After riding for almost 9 months. mostly on weekend, the paint on the rim touching the brake seems to came off.
I notice the rim is DECAF. Most of the rim I saw on Java folding is DECA. What is the different? Is DECAF is knock off for DECA?

2. I am still quite puzzle about the 20" tyre size between 406 and 451. What i understand is 20" is outside diameter of tyre. 406 and 451 is inside dimater of the rim.
Doesn't mater if you use either rim, the outside diameter is still the same. The 406 tire will be thicker. But when I browse for information some picture when they
put side by side 451 is visibly bigger. Some say it's 22".

3. Since 451 is more difficult to get and more expensive too, is it recommended for me to I change to 406? Some say 451 will ride faster, but if 20" diameter is the same, I don't think there'll be different, or Am I wrong?. I am not really concern about faster ride since my route is all same 4-5 rounds taman TAR

Thanks in advance
Al

i have no idea about DECA or DECAF sorry there.

451 is bigger in diameter, that's for sure. the tyres are not interchangable. although you can forcefully strap a 406 tube into a 451 wheel, but why use the wrong tool for the wrong purpose?

with all things (gear ratio and leg output power) being equal, you will travel slightly faster on 451 than 406.

Bro, my apologies, I don't know anything about the technical part of the saddle railing. (length size)
The Lbs tech guy did the new saddle fitting and as well as bike fitting too.
I just let him do the necessary adjustments according to my body geometry.
Frankly, he did a very good job.
I did the 2nd ride, and both times also, with the New saddle no more chaffing occurred.
The new power arc saddle helps and also minor adjustments help.
Finally, I'm so glad my hind thighs no pain edi. 😊

*Oh ya. Since the saddle comes with swat saddle mount capable , now I can have my stix tail light blinker installed up on the saddle rear and not on the seat post. 😉

this one u got the info from internet right?

LOL

of course its more difficult to get, and more expensive too since its hard to get.... IF YOU ARE IN THE USA / EUROPE

but if you are in ASIA, there's plenty of these 451 tyres lying around. go to any decent bike shop u can find them. just not the high end ones like schawlbe & et al. maybe normal ones like CST (also owner of MAXXIS), KENDA, and some unbranded ones

but in summary, they are plenty and not expensive as we are in ASIA. laugh.gif

451 and 406 isnt interchangeable. although both are termed as 20".

650c = 27.5" & 700c = 29" are interchangeable, albeit loosely in theoretical realm

Thanks for the answer. Actually I was thinking if the size is the same, might as well change to 406 if it is easy to obtain. Looks like the size size is not the same.

Haha from Mr Google biggrin.gif . Actually form this forum also especially from early entry.

Good to hear that it east to get. My DECAF rim came with CST. So that mean the term 20" for tyre is not really the same diameter size between 406 and 451?
Is 451 rim easy to get here? Which recommended replacement for 451 rim for DECA/DECAF?

Thanks
Al

nope. not same.

but as lucifah said, 451 tyres are not hard to find. but only lesser choice in models compared to 406 from what i see.

however if you put on a quality branded tyre, you dont have to change tyres often anyway so what's the concern? some bicycles i see has been owned 6-7 years and never change tyre since the day out from shop.

You thinking of welding a mounting for the disk brake? Maybe better get a new frame with disk brake support?

Hi guys,

I am looking for a 20" folding bike (mainly for exercise/touring), but emphasizing on speed as well. Currently, i am considering
bike below 2k,

1) Tern B7 or C8
2) Java Fit or Java Pro 5
3) Giant Espressway 1

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance guys.
