QUOTE(KenC @ Dec 8 2018, 06:22 PM) 11-40t or use smaller chainrings. Actually it's not that simple. Your leg power is the main factor. currently at 52/42T..what smaller chainrings u recommend? brand and price perhaps can i use back my 52T and pair it with smaller chainrings perhaps 36..will it give any difference from 42 to 36? QUOTE(Bujal.x @ Dec 8 2018, 10:11 PM) 11-32t + 53-39t is good enough does it require any modification? or can just straight away change the cassette and nothing else for the 11-32t?

QUOTE(azamunekurone @ Dec 8 2018, 11:25 PM) if im not mistaken, ira supposely used 11-28 casette with 52/42 chainring. as for 451, 42t is heavy pair with 11-25, unless ur leng is strong. for me best setup for ira is 52/39 with 11-28 casette. my friend ira already change his chainring to 39t for better climb, without changing his casette or add extra link on his chain anyway, 11-28 is a close ratio road casette and 11-32 is mtb casette. u will feel small jump on close ratio casette in flat condition. where else the mtb casette do give u a big jump on flat but easy for climbing. oh ya, if u change 11-32 do remember to calculate back ur chain.maybe u need to extend ur chain to accomodate those 32t on ur casette. no problem with rd since sora from ira already medium cage. thanks bro for the info!

Hi Guys, i got few newbie questions regarding dahon boardwalk.. 1. D7 vs D8 - The difference is the gear whereby one is 7 speed and one is 8 speed. Can both be upgraded to 9 speed with just changing the cassette only? The price difference is about RM400 2. Both use single chainring, if i plan to upgrade to double chainring, is shimano sora groupset (chainring, fd, rd, shifters) my best bet for not burning my wallet? Im using java ira which i think is better specs then the boardwalk..but i just love the design of the boardwalk and can see many ppl around the world using it in instagram as compared to my java folding bike lol.. this black one is so sexy hahaa..

hi guys, recently i bought used Tern Link N8 for my wife. she have problem when uphill due to single chain ring at 52T. thinking of buying 45T chairing to ease up a bit. do i need to cut the chain later? how do i want to check the bcd? didn't see any indicator/mark on the crankset.. if i want to upgrade to double chain ring, is there such a thing like special adapter for the front derailleur? is it this one https://bicyclebuysell.com/item/208890/daho...railleur-hanger i know there is braze on clamp, low clamp, high clamp and etc..just now go to bicycle shop and that guy said if want to upgrade double chain ring just prepare 700-800 and i was like wtf so expensive lol This post has been edited by Asus: Nov 25 2019, 10:02 PM

QUOTE(andrewhtf @ Nov 25 2019, 11:59 PM) Allow me to suggest changing the cassette instead of a double chainring. Much cheaper and easier to swap. Since the original is an 8-speed, I'd suggest looking for an 8-speed wide ratio big sprocket. Something like 11-42t. That would give you the lower gears for easier climb without having to change cranks and add derailleur. Much less hassle. Only the rd cage might or might not be changed but rd cage is cheap enough if it needs to be changed anyway. oh good suggestion..do i need to change the chain as well?

QUOTE(azamunekurone @ Nov 26 2019, 08:30 AM) in some cases, u need to change the chain coz hassle free. but if ur lbs are kind and good enough, they will extend your chain and make it longer. try to scout 8s casette with mega range ratio.if im not mistaken the biggest cog for 8s casette is 34t is available. do remember also ur rd be either medium or long cage to accomodate that casette (in some cases rd can be tune up) bro can you determine this rd is medium or long cage? hahaa.. btw the casette is already at 32T..if change to 34T would make no difference right.. found one the seller said this..is it true?
“When using a 8 speed cassette over 34t, you may have to modify the original derailleur to be compatible. Loss of shifting performance may occur”

QUOTE(ajaibman @ Feb 12 2020, 01:43 PM) I have similar bike like yours.. with same tyre size, changed to Schwable kojak (brompton size 16" x 1-1/4") and it direct fit no issue .. QUOTE(Bujal.x @ Feb 12 2020, 02:07 PM) You might use the 305 tubes but not the 305 tire. 305 tubes can be stretch out to be fitted in your pikes. The 16" used on pikes/brompton is not really 16". Its actually close to 18". 17 3/8" iinm. So the difference is about 2 inch. As for varieties for 349 tires, schwalbe offers several model. Marathon racer, marathon plus, kojak and one.price start from rm200 to rm500 per pair. thanks guys..i already upgrade the tyres to schwalbe one (35-349)
