i don't have credit card yet and cheaper bike i see like java model is very heavy and cumbersome to fold immediately especially in bus or entering office.  brompton seems to be promising and i could use it a lot if travelling around for long term.  i saw some low income people able to buy road bike costs rm15000 by loan so i like to find ways how this loan procedure works buying such bicycle the brompton.

the your only option is aeon credit.if you want to apply personal loan i think need to work at least 3-6 months.have u try both java and brompton? by weight not too much different if you ask me but space saver and compact goes to brompton la of course.

*if you dont mind brompton look-a-like try 3sixty.same look with half the price.

compared to java, brompton is not that light either.

opt for the B clones if you want it cheaper, much cheaper. still compact folds like the B. but of course lah, less prestige than the B, and you cannot brag about it. tongue.gif

2006~2008 proton Iswara RM3000~5000. Road tax RM70.
Get an Raleigh ego. New is about 1k, used is about 6~800.
Buy cash la. If you willing to buy sub rm500 bike, I give you loan. 3 month payback. Interest rate 1 root beer float (double) + 1 Coney Dog.

but, if u still the desire the Brommie, which is nothing wrong with it, without paying cash, there's only 3 options left (loans):

1. credit card (interest free payment), but your cc limit should be at least 7k, or above. u want the titanium frame, prepare 5 figures.
2. aeon credit
3. personal loan

or

Along. sweat.gif

basically im repeating what bujal has already replied to you. biggrin.gif

i like the brompton because i tried one when i met some of the commuter at work, it seem easy to fold and carry quickly. Java not so much i'm stuggling to pickup the pace so it felt heavy. ill try to check out on personal loan first from bank soon.

i wanted to ask you guys foldies how did you make payment for an overpriced foldies like brompton because i saw a folding bike i like but cost over 6k instead of java model under 2k.  i just graduated and started to work need portable transport to move around city but at price like that just started to work sounds impossible.  does bike shop offer some installment or did you guys get some personal loan from bank?  would like to listen for advice and wanted to avoid high interest payment rate from aeon service.

You can buy a kapcai using loan instead of a brompton. Kapcai gets you further. Buy a brompton when you have enough buying power

How about other 16 inch foldies? See: Dahon Curve. The size is about the same as a Brompton. I think its around RM 1600-ish now.

There's also a 16 inch model from Trinx, below RM 1000.

Having to pay 3-5 years installment just for a bicycle is not really a good financial decision. Get what you can afford first.

Seems the lad already set his mind on the brommie.. He only need financial source, not other bikes remmendation. Let's hope he'll be successful in his financial aim and enjoy his dream bike smile.gif .

if u ask me, if u commute multi mode, ie, train + ride, brompton is the best. for 50% of the price you can get dahon curl, which is equally compact and easy to push around.

but if your multi mode is car +bike, any folding bike is the same. in fact those 451 wheel bike is much better.

All the best! Once you get the Brompton, don't forget to share some pics with us.

Also, don't leave it outside.

I believe that the best cycling insurance is Sports Personal Accident Insurance Policy from MSIG.
I took Plan A with RM50K cover with annual premium of RM90. You will get 25% for walk-in. It covers all sports except vehicle racing, boxing or wrestling. Some of sports covered arr cycling, scuba diving, caving, parasailing, bungee jumping, etc.

Max RM2K for loss or damage to sports equipment but limited to RM1K per article, pair or set.

The lad didn't say how much his salary. Surely he can settle the loan with his 1st pay cheque.
He did mention Brompton is ridiculously expensive.
I am sure he knows how to spend his money. Why we all get so stressed up with him taking up loan to buy a bicycle?
