I think there should be an option to disable new replies notification when you are the TS who open the thread.

Imagine you open Samsung Note or iPhone 8 thread, every day, every single second, there are people replying on the thread and it keeps popping-up the notification telling you someone reply your thread. WTF !

Notification is only important when someone replying on your post.

which notification? emails? email notifications can be managed at your email subscription link in your control panel. By default, you are not subscribed to email notifications even for your own threads.

but there is...look below at the "post options" when u create a thread...there is a checkbox - "Enable notification bar alerts for all replies to this topic? "

and if u forgot to untick it, then go into control panel -> subscriptions > view topics.
