Hmm, does this mean we'll be able to play other than wmv format now? Can't wait!

hi all,

i'm having an acer AL1916W. And of course i do have the same pale-looking colors when i play my 360 on it. All i could do for now is to crank up the contrast and brightness each time im on the 360 and readjust when i use my PC. it's troublesome but it helps a lot, considering the "improvement" comes at no cost at all.

But like all of u i do yearn for better colors and details. erm, would changing to a better LCD monitor help at all? It seems that the problem now is with the IRE black levels. are there any monitors out there that have got the same black levels as the 360?

Hear from u guys soon. lotsa thanks.

My Dell faced the same problem. All colors looks washed out when I first connect it to the the 360.

However, on the Dell, there's the service menu where you can adjust all the levels manually. After some tweaking, the picture looks awesome.

Maybe you can try and find ways to access the service menu for your monitor?

It's just a matter of time. For now, I guess they just want the number of Xbox 'sold' higher than their competitor. Once they've achieved that, maybe only then, they will start worrying about banning modded consoles.

Either way, just stick to unmodded if you're going Live.

Let's just wait for a few more days and we'll get the definitive answer. No point getting our hopes up.

They can unblock their IP range. Not really a huge issue.

Damn, from what he's saying, there's no more marketplace content for us anymore in the future?

Spoofing the IP should work, but I guess we'll have to see how they implement. Let's just hope we don't wake up to a an empty Live Marketplace this Monday.

It's not published on the website yet. Still showing the January update.

It's around 6 megs. With my current connection to Live now, I guess it's safer to download it from the website.

Anybody on VGA cable notice any improvement in image quality? Did they implement the black level IRE fix?

Damn.... I'm not sure whether my eyes playing trick on me, but I can say that the colors are a bit more vibrant now.

Under Display options, there's a new menu called Reference Levels. You can change it to Standard, Intermediate and Expanded. What do they mean anyways?

As for resolution options, sad to announce that 16:10 resolutions are not in place.

As for content restriction, it seems like it's still not in place yet. Tried downloading some trailers via my US account, everything seems to be working still.

The online marketplace looks so much better now, with more information on screen and better organization.

I have also tried the background downloading, and it works as advertised. I turned the Xbox off (no fan, no sound) and it's still downloading. The middle power light on the Xbox kept on blinking to indicate that it's still doing something.

Oh, one more thing, AVI's still not supported. Sigh...

Thanks. Signed in using my US account and I get the update prompt. I selected yes, and then it disconnected. Guess I better wait for the update to be available on Xbox.com.

Downloading via Live's pretty safe. It will only update once the download has been completed.

The download from the website is around 6 megs. I guess it's around that size from Live too.

Took me like 5 minutes to complete the whole thing.... when will it be available on the website anyways?

From my TV, reference level seems to affect the darkness and contrast. Maybe it's just me.
