hello everyone 1st of all i'm new here and i'm also computer illiterated so i know nuts about software and hardware thing about pc thus i just wanna ask some noob question (pls forgive me for asking such noob question)
i'm currently using some athlon processor and overclocked it (i bought i from overclocker' paradise lowyat) and i installed some coolin system on my processor (something like a metal turbine fan or something)
last time before i formated my pc there's this icon at the taskbar (i dunno wat u call it, its the lower right thing telling u the time) which tells me the how hot is my pc is
after my format my pc, the icon doesn't show up anymore (obviously after format it) the question is how to install back the temp. icon thing? i realize that there was no cd given regarding the cooling system thing and i don't know whether it i working or not after formation.
pls kindly advise me (here i apologise again for my noobness and asking such noob question)

You're a noob and you overclock? Thats a perfect recipie for potential diaster..
Anyway, you don't have to worry about that missing taskbar program, there are many free programs you can use to check your system temperatures-google for them. Speedfan is one of the most popular, you can also reduce your system fan speeds with it to make things quieter. One of the most accurate is Lavasys's Everest; there's a free version if I'm not mistaken-but note that Everest does a hell lot more than give you your system monitoring information. In any case please take note-pretty much all the motherboards do not measure temperatures & voltages with perfect accuracy. I've done some measuring and comparision of my own on a few boards (including good brands like Abit, Asus, DFI, Biostar and Gigabyte) and the readings are only vaguely accurate. Its still good enough for a rough idea how good is your system's condition though-like 60C+ is not a temperature procs should be at for any extended period of time.
Btw, do some reading up before you actually do some overclocking. There are threads around discussion. Do it properly, don't use those automatic overclocking options in the BIOS-you won't notice any REAL difference in performance because the overclock is so minimal.
