I need a ride home after school tomorrow and my best bet right now is uber. But I am a female, and a teenager. I'd like to know how safe uber is and if it is worth the risk. The app estimates it's only a 5 minute ride (but from experience, with traffic included it's about 15 mins or less). Sorry if this seems a little over the top, I am very paranoid. I've never taken uber alone, only with a friend, or in a group.

When i travel alone(many years ago when i still young), i do like this. That time still don't have uber/grab, so i take taxi. Before go into taxi, i will call my parent, tell them the taxi plate number, driver name and etc. Maybe you can try this.
Or if you have unlimited call package, just call your parent, chat with them until you reach your destination.

when the car arrived, take a pic and watsapp to someone u informed early abt ur ride... make sure the driver see it to shows ure playing save...

if someone else inside the car, dont go up...

as mention above, make a phone call and make sure the driver heard ur conversation that ur ride jus started

open ur uber make sure the driver follow uber route... call ur friend if driver really change route bcos traffic jam or something, tell friend ur diversion and say might arrive few min late and wait for u although ur friend is not there

dun play hp and be alert

I have given a lot of teenage girls a ride all act like normal only. I think the office ladies (OLs) are more paranoid. Some are really cool though sit next to me and chatty as well.

you have taken uber before?
have anything ever happened to you or your friends taking uber?
if you're paranoid, walk home or go to police station and ask for a ride home in their car.

it's a good feature...but what if the phone network coverage is poor around that area ?

this sounds like a good idea...but talking on the phone along the trip may cause the passenger not paying attention to surroundings

There should be an option for females riders to insist on getting a female driver. Don't blame her, got to admit there are lots of male creeps in this country.

We should have some empathy la instead posting things like "driver more scared of you riders"...
